“Like ‘Masunaga Vapors,’ this song references a real person—Tony Colston-Hayter, who was this legendary acid-house rave promoter from the '80s who then in the mid-2010s was arrested for hacking into bank accounts and stealing a million pounds. The reason we became obsessed with the story is because he was hacking into the accounts using this insane machine that was like a pitch-shifting pedal taped to something else that basically allowed him to alter the gender of his voice and play prerecorded bank messages that would trick the systems to get into what he needed to get into.”

From the Apple Music breakdowns, no idea if that helps at all.

 

The atonal nature of the record is the toughest part for me. Which is cool in that it is challenging my brain to think differently about how music sounds. But I can't help but wish the breakdowns were cleaner so they hit harder.

It took me a couple of spins to really sink in. Their last album didn't do much for me, but I can't stop playing this one now.

 

gotta say this made the transition from "well, this is some of the wildest shit I've ever heard" to just something that I listen to all the time very nicely

 

Was jamming ENTERTAINMENT, DEATH and AN ITERATION came on my autoplay. Checked out this record and goddamn does it go hard. Love it.
