I don’t think they were targeting the poster on here, which is why it’s weird that they got called out explicitly. If it’s referencing that post, some narc probably saw that topshelf liked it and linked them. I doubt they’d be looking it up, haha.

 

Obviously everyone can have their opinions. It’s kindve a bad look to be on a record label’s acct and liking posts that are negative about bands within the scene, so I get where Dogleg is coming from. Especially if it got linked to them out of the blue. Leftandleaving should be left out of it, tho. 100%.

Yeah, I’m sure it feels shitty to see a label like a negative post, and I don’t think it’s a good look for a label to do that, but…Melee got far more hype than it did criticism, lol, and people are allowed to call music mediocre or express else they view something. I do feel bad for him though because it sounds like he came across it at a particularly vulnerable moment.

Yes the band needed the perspective that James provided and I’m sure the band is very thankful for that but we gotta remember these dudes are still super young and last year was supposed to be a huge year for them and stuff like that is so fleeting. I’m not necessarily saying everything is justified and they don’t need my defending but yeah last year played a huge toll on everyone’s mental health

yo this was strictly aimed at topshelf, not at zac at all. y'all can obviously think whatever you want about us that's fine - I have absolutely 0 qualms about that.

what I take offense to is a label who I have looked up to for years, sent demos and things to when I was nothing, and who courted us for a bit when trying to release the album then ghosting us, finally coming out and tacitly saying that we actually suck hard. It was like, specifically negative posts about us that they were liking too, not just zacs post. it made me quite frustrated at the circumstances so I vent posted and it popped off unfortunately.

and y'all can absolutely say that I should be grateful for the good press and good reviews, but when you can't play at all and literally just sit at home for over a year, it starts to not feel like any of that is real at all when it's all online. i don't take it for granted at all but it's just a very hard thing to perceive when you can't actually do things.

btw i love you all, thank you for even listening to us even if you dig it or not

And for the record, Dogleg is indeed very good!

 

I got a crew of high schoolers on the Dogleg train so maybe they’ll form a dope 6th wave emo band
