Off topic - but amazing how all these companies just expect us to flip a switch and go back to commutes and 9-5 after a year and a half of working remote.

Going to be funny to see all the head scratching over “lost productivity” when that extra two hours I was willing to throw in is now reserved for my commute.

It's say it's more a case of unrealistic expectations. It wasn't going to be anything but a vinyl reissue or merch piece.

 

A vinyl reissue is fine, but it’s $70 and it doesn’t ship until 2022. That’s the annoying part

 

Yeah it's the price thats absurd. And why would he autograph a crappy looking poster instead of the actual vinyl?

I don't think this has been posted in here, and I just hit play, but it seems like it's gonna be pretty awesome.

Davey was a big fan and friends with the band back in the early days and was even in the "Josie" music video.

 

Yeah, I'm not going to pay fucking $70 for this reissue. There's more things I want to say here, but I'll bite my tongue and try to get a cheaper copy of this elsewhere. Disappointed to say the least.

 

I’ve listened to part 1 of that interview with Davey Jones. Some really cool stories and soundbites. This dude has hung onto EVERYTHING. He even has a recording of Mark’s old pager voicemail, and a voicemail recording that Mark left Davey’s ex girlfriend. Haha this guy’s got some crazy stuff. Part 1 of the interview only covers 1995 to early 1998. Cool stuff.

 

And remember that one guy who has the Dude Ranch demo tape that sent it to Mark recently? That guy and I had a little back and forth today. He gave me a break down of the whole unreleased song. He didn’t go into the lyrics or anything, but still, kinda neat.

He also said that he disagrees with Mark when he said that the unreleased song just uses a bunch of parts that they recycled and used for other songs. The guy said he doesn’t think any of the song sounds like parts of any of their other songs, which makes the song even more intriguing now.

He also said he’d rank the song as a middle tier song on Dude Ranch, when comparing it to the rest of the album. But he said it’s kinda hard to rank it since he’s heard the actual album songs so much more, and in better quality, etc.

He also said there’s an alternate/unreleased version of “Voyeur” on the demo tape. The subject of the song is the same, but the lyrics and music are completely different. I’d like to hear what that sounds like. Basically a second unreleased song.

If we don’t get these demos one day, I’m going to lose my mind! Haha.

Speaking of the Buddha promo...

We've all heard the crappy quality Buddha promo demo on YouTube and whatnot. Wellllllllllll a guy from back in the day who worked for Cargo Records found one of the original tapes in his collection. He sent it to Davey Jones, and Davey ripped the tape with his high quality gear, and then made it available for free to download. The higher quality is amazing!

So this confirms that the Promo tape is real! That’s really cool.

Wish he would do it for Flyswatter, original Buddha and the Demo #2 tape.

 

Beyond all of this I would really like to hear TOYPAJ demos the most
