Even Almighty made over $100mil domestically. Not that it was good or beloved, but I'd take $100mil for something that didn't happen.

So many movies come out nowadays and so many movies spend less and less time in theaters that something like Evan Almighty can make over a hundred million dollars and leave no cultural footprint.

All the actors involved in Burt Wonderstone did a good job at making themselves unrecognizable. Smart move.

A movie can flop critically and be a financial success

Speaking of, don't forget the movie that made $100 million and ended with a card that told the audience that if they wanted to find out the ending, they'd have to visit a website (which no longer exists).

A movie can be a financial success but still no longer exist. The GI Joe movies each made over $300mil and nobody has thought about them since

People go to see those movies because it is something to do on a weekend when most towns don't have much more than a Chili's and a bowling alley, but they probably can't recall the plot a week later. These movies are out of theaters so quickly, too, and you bump into them in a $5 Wal-Mart bin within two years. It is all so disposable now.

I have friends that worked at Best Buy a decade ago that would have people come in every Tuesday just to buy whatever the latest DVDs were. Some oher friends worked at the local theater and said it was normal for people to just come in, ask what people are seeing and buy a ticket to whatever they told them. Tale as old as time.

I was at a movie theater on Friday. The old couple in front of me asked for two to see the Fast and the Furious, but it was the original film and not the new one so they changed their mind. They had the employee describe the movies until they decided on Mortal Kombat. It is such a chaotic way to go see movies.

I loved Secondhand Lions growing up. My dad was completely obsessed with it. Grumpy Michael and Robert bickering on a porch was great.

Holy hell. This one from the replies, no way this is real. You can’t convince me this wasn’t just photoshopped.
