He really captured a great variety of Frank styles on that record. Broken Piano is such a powerful stuck outside your comfort zone closer. There’s so many great moments and songs during the TDH era that I hope they can capture magic again.

TDH is not my favorite frank album but i dont think it can even be disputed that it is his best.

LI&S and EKMB definitely dispute that.

Those 3 interchange for me as my favorite/his best, but I think I’d lean towards TDH has his best even if EKMB is my favorite.

Best two Frank records in my opinion, but TDH isn’t far too far behind. They are easy the top 3 and then there’s a little separation.

LI&S is great but has a few songs I skip and a few songs I think have the potential to be a bit better, EKMB is also my favorite but has admittedly a few clunkers. TDH is straight through rockstar level recordings and songs.

LI&S is the only one of his where I think every song is genuinely fantastic. I'd put the worst on that over at least the bottom 3/4 on any of his other albums. It also has like 5 of my top 10 Frank songs.

EKMB has a few clunkers for sure but I'd say less than TDH and the highs are definitely higher, it's my easy choice for number 2 although I still think it's a big step down from LI&S. I think I'd put TDH about on par with Positive Songs and SIFTW. All really great albums.

If you count the b-sides from the album / era, England Keep My Bones is my favorite Frank Turner album, hands down. Tape Deck Heart is probably second, but it's not super distinct after that. The rest of his albums aside from these last two are all absolutely awesome.

I’m going to avoid ranking albums, but those albums capture something special about what he does and sets the standards of comparables for me.

Other albums have great tracks or production or whatever, but they don’t put all the pieces together the way those 3 turned out.

Even PSFNP is awesome for me. At the time I just needed that “you can get better” message and was trying to pull myself out of a very shitty place. It helped me a lot.

As it came out and I was actively trying to literally get better I then met my now fiancé so I don’t know, I guess very good memories associated with that album.

PSFNP is awesome. The last great Frank Turner album as far as I'm concerned. Although, I can't lie - my hopes are really really high hearing that he's working with Rich Costey again and that it's a little more fast and upbeat.

PSFNP was decent, but was certainly the beginning of the rapid decline. some incredibly terrible songs on that album.

I’d label PSFNP good in my books, and not great. I believe they tried to record it with more of a live feel, but I’ve just found with the few Butch Walker produced albums at that time (Frank and Brian Fallon), I’ve found other producers did a better job with those bands (on previous and post releases). I will say that the additional full acoustic version of the album decision was a great choice. Some songs worked better in that format, so it was nice having both.

Listening to PS4NP now, man this album begins SO strongly. The first 5-6 songs are really great and then it just completely tails off. Only maybe 1 or 2 actually good songs on the back end. Love Forty Down is truly a horrendous song.

"The Next Storm" is an all time great Frank song

Love Forty Down is awesome! Only bad song on that album is Silent Key.

Next Storm and Opening Act are fantastic, and what Get Better lacks with pretty bad lyrics it totally makes up for in just fast ass kicking rock.

Back half of PSFNP definitely cools off, I don’t particularly care much for Love Forty Down, Demons, or Out of Breath. Josephine rules.

Love Forty Down does suck ... I really don’t need a song about tennis.

Love Forty Down and The Next Storm are both really awesome Frank songs. I like Silent Key. Frank’s a good story teller song writer and info think it’s interesting how he came up with a story around a sad real historical moment.

Song For Josh is such a sad and powerful song. I’d say the Glorious You and the acoustic version of Get Better (full band version is good too) are probably my favourite 6 from that album.

The only two songs on PSFNP that I don't love are 'The Angel Islington' and 'Out of Breath' - every other song on the album is awesome. I don't really understand the hate for 'Love Forty Down'. I don't love tennis but I don't dislike it either, and it literally doesn't bother me at all if that's what he wants to sing about. Tennis is as fine as any other sport as far as I'm concerned. And 'Silent Key' is great.

My main gripe with PSFNP is that 'Least of All Young Caroline' and 'Little Aphrodite' didn't make the cut.

I respect his decision to try his hand at a fast short punk song, but i hate “Out of Breath” so, so much.

  23. I change my rankings of his albums all the time, but honestly the run from LI&S to PSFNP (yes, everything except his debut and the latest two records) is just one of my favorite discographies of all time. I love pretty much every song in that era.

Even the debut has a bunch of classic songs on it!

Also Love Forty Down is not just a song about tennis, haha. Out of Breath is a great song too!

  25. Oh yeah, I'm not necessarily down on those other three records, but that run is just perfect to me. I actually like a lot of songs on BMK and NML too, but there are some that I definitely skip.
