Has anyone made a joke about throwing it away like a free Audible credit you forgot to use? This thread is hard to keep up with

 

I don’t dislike the line. I just didn’t understand it.

Coming in after my 3rd listen to say I love this band and this album and feel the appreciation for it growing with each listen

 

It seemed like the original gripe with it was the seemingly lazy rhyme

but then it evolved into a criticism of the coherence of the line

idk, it’s just there for me...don’t hate it, but can see why people wanna dunk on it too

 

I’m from the UK so I’m convinced you aren’t talking about a real sport right now, so...

 

audible is a good album by the band football etc

I'm an all-pro QB on my over 30 men's flag football team. I throw away audibles all the damn time. Do you even play, bro??

 

I was just explaining why people have a problem with the line because others were asking what's wrong with it lol people can like the line if they want, that's just what's wrong with it

I know we were discussing Andy's lyrics. I'll just say that I do not understand what he is talking about for a large part of this record. Still sounds great though.

 

Several listens in and I think this might be their best album, which is pretty unebelievable considering their releases so far

 

Baseball is better.

 

I started off as a big angel of death guy/ side A guy, but after 20ish listens I’m just repeating obstacle—-> way back. When it clicked I realized how much these songs are the soul of the album imo

 

I believe the audible is all the friends we made along the way

 

I feel myself starting to shift a bit to side B, but we'll see how it goes.

15 or so listens in now and I'm loving it

I've always loved Andy's lyrics in a special way. He's no John Darnielle, but he has some truly beautiful lines and a very unique style.

 

“So my options are optional” and
“I jump you like an animal
You bite back like an animal”


Are also bad

Artist intent isn’t an excuse for questionable music/lyrics, but Andy was clearly going for a consistent pattern with the writing for Inaudible

 

The double animal bothers me more than the first line, but none of them are anything that I can’t get past
