yeah i just never really got that into fall out boy. Cork Tree is a pretty fun listen, but good god their lyrics... they've got good chemistry as a band but just not enough to keep me engaged beyond a listen every once in a while

    The rivalry is back on

Train's 50 Ways To Say Goodbye song is the weirdest mixture of being a painful ripoff of Latin music and being crazy catchy

Its funny we were talking about National fans thinking other off the wall lyrics are dumb and brought up Radiohead. We were all quick to reference "yesterday i woke up sucking on lemon" and nobody else seemed to think of "you and your sister live in a Lemon world, doo doo doo doo". Theyre essentially doing the same thing - evoking an image of having a sour perception of the world.

To me sometimes lyrics can be like, emotion by association. Depending on how you interpret the idea of "sour" relating to mood, that can imply totally different things about... her and her sister. Some writers just create a setting or highlight images in a story and that says it all.

Anther National example is, "standing at the punch table swallowing punch." That seems like such a pointless line if you just take it at face value, but the repetitive syntax is important - it tells me, im just here to be here and look like i belong. And depending how you perceive this...

    1) a punch table could be at a formal office party, and that makes this line about the monotony of adult responsibilities and indulgences.

    2) A punch table could be jungle juice at some college party and this song suddenly takes on the tone of a shy or anxious person who doesnt feel like themselves or like they can interact when everyone else is being outlandish.

    3) a punch table could be at high school prom and then youre probably setting the scene for some relationship drama, maybe watching your date dance with somebody else from that punch table. Or, take that a step further, maybe its a wedding reception and youre still in love with the bride or groom from a previous connection you had.

Lyrics like that are really cool to me because its almost like fill-in-the-blank with how you personally associate those words or images. It inspires the listener to create part of the meaning of the song with their own imagination.

Cum for the Cum God. Prestigious

I don't know if this is unpopular, but it's just a sort of weird thought I had about an album so I'm posting it here: Polyenso's Pure In the Plastic sounds like, with different production, it could be a legit mainstream pop album. I could imagine a bunch of these songs being sung by Justin Bieber and being massive hits.

Someone with connections hook JB and Polyenso up and watch the magic happen.
