Cope sounds exactly like Kid A

This record definitely isn’t as immediate as Black Mile was to me, but I think it’ll be a strong grower. That Dinosaur drop is my favorite moment of the album for sure. Also anyone who doesn’t appreciate The internet can go kick rocks.

angel of death reminds me a ton of top notch. must be the cadence that he delivers some of the lines.

Cope is my least favorite, but I always am pleasantly surprised how much I enjoy it when I do listen. There’s just a handful of tracks that never fully clicked with me, including Top Notch, which being the first single kind of killed the momentum for me

This album will definitely join the regular rotation alongside Julien Baker’s for the year.

Might have been mentioned already but "Bed Head" was used as bumper music during yesterday's Cubs/Braves game. Kind of neat.

I keep forgetting about the new Julien Baker despite liking it a lot. Thanks for the reminder to give it a spin!

They don't really sound anything alike, but I do think this pairs pretty well with the Julien album

    Motel. Money. Murder. Madness.

I have two packages coming today.

they aren’t directly from SCP, but maybe they’re from one of the other exclusives. Cross fingers.

Hope was the first album I heard from the band. I think Simple Math was the second? It was a strange introduction, but I liked it.

  18. I just hate the way that Cope sounds. There’s no reason for the guitars and drums to sound muted on an MO record

Agreed! Been saying this since the day it came out. They had greater rich full sounding records prior to Cope, so it shouldn’t have sounded so flat and crunchy when the songs are wrote and sound performed so full and robust.

It’s the emotions of each. I’ve been through a lot of upheaval this year and gone through some periods of depression that both really touch on.

nearly every song on COPE sounds the same, follows the exact same format, and is just overall really boring, especially compared to what came before and after that album. they hyped that album up to be their most loud or aggressive album or whatever back during the lead up to release and METN goes 10x harder than COPE

Yeah that’s a good way of looking at it. Both very emotionally resonant albums.

Top Notch is MO’s “Everything In Its Right Place”.

Right place is a tune I put on every Fall during the first really cold day. It’s my “get pumped for winter” track
