They’re similar to posts made on every thread about every band.

Saying a band are good dudes is weird. And talking about positive interactions, double weird.

Exactly. An artist doesn't want something said about something, don't fucking say anything about it. It's not your place to tease something.

Nobody here truly knows for sure if the band are good dudes or not. Or any famous person. You’d think after the last few years people would’ve learned that lesson.

 

Somebody could seem like the nicest person in the world and then be revealed as a total scumbag in an instant. Look at someone like Evan Stephens Hall, just to pick an example at complete random.

 

There’s a thousand examples.

It’s also always the same people on some “just talk about the music” head ass type shit.

anyways. i like this band a lot and even though I didn't like the latest song, I'm still very excited for the album. who knew indie rock personalities from Atlanta could stir up such a cult of personality with some people though. truly wild stuff.

 

Now we're pre-emptively not saying good things about people because anyone can secretly be abusive lol.

I understand not being weirdly obssesed or fawning over people you don't know at their core.

But I think it's a tough logical jump to be averse to saying some band members seem like good people because some other bands have had shitty people in them.

I mean look at the Julien Baker and Phoebe Bridgers threads. Plenty of stories about Phoebe being rude and mean in high school, but there is an idol-like worship "can do no wrong" in the thread.

 

i didn't say you can't say good things about people. the post they made that response to was me quite literally saying "andy did some shitty stuff when he was younger but I'm glad he grew up." that isn't me grasping at straws. that is stuff that andy has more or less publicly owned up to, and props to him for that.

FWIW I do think it was a good look for the band to ship the new record out separately and eat the cost of the double shipment. I don’t know if we need to “thank them” but I don’t think it should be downplayed. They could’ve stuck SCP with the blame and done nothing. Just my two cents

Waitwaitwait, I’m actually genuinely wondering if this is what rubbed people the wrong way, and if we’re always supposed to be waiting for some mysterious shoe to drop because someone in a lot of peoples favorite band (i’m assuming it’s BN for a lot of people in this thread) was/is a terrible person.

Idol worship = saying someone is a good person based on 15 years of interactions and various levels of friendship.

I’m genuinely genuinely asking this.

It’s really a shame that so many people aren’t interested in making people feel more comfortable posting in this thread after everything that’s been said. Suppose I’ll have to find somewhere else to discuss this album once it actually comes out.
