Honestly the unrest from me and others probably came from the constant flexing. I think it was one of the biggest flexers saying to thank the band that got people (including myself) upset.

Neither vagueposting nor flexing should really be all that welcome either though tbh even if it isn't rising to the level of a weird parasocial relationship with people you don't actually know. I'm sure I can speak for most reasonable people when I say that nobody gives shit about anyone's "teehee I know something you don't know ;)" bullshit and would prefer it stop getting posted. It's annoying and it doesn't add anything to the conversation. At least not the way it's been done in this thread.

 

If you’re going to tease or vaguepost and it’s like, the day before an artist announces an album or tour or something I’m cool with that but constant vague posting and teasing is what I think people also got annoyed with.

I agree with that, but also don't think it deserves a many many page thread derailment to chastise and fight about and talk about sauces and dick sizes. Especially from users who have not been contributing for months and all come in doubling down on weird idol worship narratives.

 

I've already explained why I personally haven't been contributing in months, after initially being in the thread immediately after the record was announced, but my concerns were dismissed and invalidated out of hand so what else can I really say at this point

 

(Maybe the reason certain users haven’t been contributing regularly is because the thread feels very cliquey and inaccessible due to the behaviors being described)

 

If someone starts a podcast about their favorite sports team and follows them very intensely no one bats an eye. Do the same with the band? It’s idol worship. Apparently.

I'm asking this genuinely, what about this thread made it feel cliquey and inaccessible? Was it a user showing pictures of a test pressing or giving vague hints to upcoming things? Was it the creation of a podcast or the constant rankings? My dumbass buying as many vinyl variants as I could?

I'm a pretty big supporter of introducing the band to as many people as possible, and would never want anyone to feel uncomfortable in discussing or being introduced to the band.
