hey man, it's 2021, you gotta expect every foreign hit to be picked up for a US remake.

even if you are gonna remake it in English, which you shouldn't, it's not like mads can't speak English and isn't a star in movies here too lol. you could just use him again. so dumb.

Hopefully it goes the way of the Jack Nicholson Maren Ade remake, which I haven’t heard about for awhile so am just assuming they scrapped it

I certainly agree, but this brings up a question for me... which American remakes of films have starred at least one of the same actors from the original?

First I can think of is Penelope Cruz in Abre Los Ojos / Vanilla Sky, I am sure there are more examples

America has such a different drinking culture compared to most of Europe, it's hard to see them copying the film scene for scene and having it still work.

Yeah, I feel like they're going to have to change a whole lot about the movie to make it work

There was an American Force Majeure remake that came out early last year that was a flop I think

The mainstream American movie machine is only interested in consuming. Video game adaptation, foreign film remake, popular old series reboot, superhero movie sequel. If it fails, someone gets fired and they just go to a different studio and other people get promoted when and if it works.

On the topic of remakes I liked Let Me In more than Let The Right One In.

I have heard that view before. It would be hard to recreate the magic of the original film for me, but the cat scene did not age well.

I don't know who needs to hear this, but I just watched The One I Love, a movie from 2014, and everyone who loves movies should watch it. And really, don't read about it before you watch, just... watch it

    It's all hell.

My partner and I have been rewatching LOST and I totally forgot how perfect Michael Giacchino's score is throughout the whole show.

Super powerful and really elevates what already is a great series.

Ah, only about 5 years late to that weird hypermasculine-absurdist-jingoist "Merica" trend that went around Facebook for a while. So close.

It’s from the co-creator of Sealab 2021, which I never watched, but I assume it’ll be Adult Swim-ish?
