It probably an unusual choice but favorite Snoop album is Tha Blue Carpet Treatment

Same with being intimidated by the discography. If it wasn’t for my roommate playing new Snoop constantly, I’d be way out of the loop aside from the early hits.

I typically don’t like listening to the streaming service curated playlists but the one Spotify has for southern classics is probably my favorite I’ve heard next to the HBCU one they have also.

I also thought of this song when I heard Lemonade on the southern classics playlist. I remember this was my first real introduction to Tyler and Earl.

Orange Juice will always be a classic. Especially when they occassionally pop out at each other’s shows every few years to perform it together

I listened through again today and I think I figured out what it is for me. I like more of the album than I thought before, but it's all almost in the back half. The first half of the album is where I mostly find stuff that feels really safe to me. CHAIN ON, THE LIGHT and even WINDOWS... I know people love those songs but for me they just feel like glorified cypher tracks. The lack of a chorus, a hook, or really more melody than the main beat just isn't my thing. I prefer when they get a bit more experimental, have a bunch going on in the songs, have some actual hook or chorus to grab onto. Something like I'LL TAKE YOU ON is what I love most, or the end of WHAT'S THE OCCASION where the outro is some crazy distorted vocals and a ad guitar solo, the almost gospel-like melodies on DEAR LORD.

I guess my overall point is that BROCKHAMPTON have yet to release an album I like front to back, I think I just like more tracks from Iridescence and GINGER than the new one.

But, if you start ROADRUNNER at I'LL TAKE YOU ON and it's just those last 7 tracks (ehh, minus WHEN I BALL) that's the kind of stuff I feel like makes them stand out

Earl was the epitome of an edgy 15 year old and really has had a journey

Fuck. I think I said it after DMX passed, but it’s been a shitty year to be a rap fan.

I just got an actual ad for the Brockhampton album on IG. I don’t remember every getting an ad for a rap album on there.
