  1. yeah they'll probably put on a work admin profile but she should be able to log into her Apple ID - I know my wife's work lets her use her MacBook Air like that

K I need the tags and the purple iPhone and the iPad 12 and the purple or red iMac and the Ted Lasso

These announcement days are always tempting but god damn this ones intense. Crazy how effective colors are as a marketing tool, too.

Would be great if they made one that wasn't XDR and the cost of a kidney, I would love a high (but not extreme) quality display in a brushed aluminium on a nice stand that I can use in my home as a second screen for an iPad/MacBook and not have it look like some uggo, black plastic piece of office equipment from the 90s

Lots of tech enthusiasts have been wanting Apple to just take the 5K display already used in the iMac and put it a nice Apple frame and sell it. Seems the general consensus of the price most would be willing to pay for that is $1K, which considering the computer is just a couple hundreds more isn't bad. I use a 34" ultrawide, but Big Sur was obviously designed for retina displays, because lots of UI elements are too small and blurry to use on a lower resolution display. When I get a new MBP later this year, I'm hoping a new display will be coming alongside it.

  8. You can get really good 4k HDR monitors for like 4-500 though. Unless their monitor has additional features like AirPlay I don't really see a point in shelling out another $500 for a screen that doesn't look as good (unless I'm confused, is retina supposed to be better looking than 4k?)

Also, that bezel on the bottom of the new Mac is really awkward without at least an Apple logo on it.

    1080p scales up to 4K
1440p scales up to 5K (more content fits on the screen in 1440p/5K)

Sorry I was using the "retina" term straight from Apple. They do a lot of strange resolution scaling on the Macs, and I just checked the new M1 iMac. Apparently that will have a "4.5K" display. Besides the 5K iMac and the 6K Pro Display XDR, Apple hasn't stuck with standard resolutions on their displays. People like myself would prefer a 5K display over a 4K because of how much more content you can fit on the display at once. There's plenty of 4K options on the market that look nice. There's almost no 5K options available besides the LG one.

  11. Word! Thank you for the insight. I guess, I just don't want it to look noticeably WORSE than the screen on my 13" MBP (purchased in June 2020).

the ultra fine is legit great except for the design. I used to own the 5k when my production pipeline was still mac centric.

  13. an Apple display is my most wanted product now that I have my heart set on a Mac mini. Shopping for other monitors online is the woooooorst.

I think the only new purchase I'm going to consider making right now is a new watch. I had the series 0 and traded it in a few years back when I bought my XR iirc. I mostly just want it for the fitness stuff/standing reminders so I'm leaning towards the SE right now. Does anyone here have one of those? I'm also not against being sold on the Series 6, I just don't think I'd need it necessarily.

Got an SE as my first Apple Watch back in October. Absolutely love it. From what I understand the only way you’d need a Series 6 is if you want blood oxygen sensing or an always-on screen, since those aren’t on the SE. The S6 also has a U1 chip, which could theoretically mean it could work with Airtags in the future, but it wasn’t listed as a compatible device for those features yesterday.

the SE is absolutely perfect for my needs, and the price is extremely fair. as long as they keep releasing new SE models, that's the model i will continue to go with.

I'm pretty sure it will. I still haven't paid for Apple TV+ yet since the service started lol.

I'd pay an extra $500 just for better industrial design that matched the rest of the Apple products on my desk

I can’t tell if my Transparency Mode isn’t working on my new AirPod Pros, or if I misunderstood what kind of clarity I’d be able to hear things with. I wish there were a clear way to test and understand its function. I feel like a dummy.

Yeah the easiest test is to make noise while switching back and forth from ANC to transparency

So, is it normal for the difference to be pretty subtle especially if the music is a bit louder? I think I can kinda tell some difference. Just expected it to be night and day. Just trying to troubleshoot and make sure I understand. I’ve never had headphones earbuds like this.

It’s not super subtle, but it is less apparent the louder your music is.
