You'd think they'd want to re-consider that stance after this previous 6 nations, they looked terrible.

 

The NHL didn't allow players to play in the Olympics before, I'd assume it would be pretty similar no?

Most countries do to be fair. For Ireland you need to be playing in Ireland. Most players once they’ve established themselves in the Irish team and given a central contract

 

Weren't the players vehemently pissed at the NHL for that, too?

(Person who works in a law firm, really showing that here:) I'm really curious if these clubs are breaking actual rules by doing this. Because if they're not, and I suspect they've got a legal team that's better than UEFA's between them helping them decide this before they made any announcement, anything UEFA does will be countered in court immediately and most likely ruled in the clubs' favor. I think I even saw that many of the clubs already have documents in the court ready to be filed depending on what UEFA says today.
