the K League streams all of their matches for free live these days (and has complete vods), although only one game a day has English commentary (the rest is just commentary-less). just need to make a free account and you should be fine (there's a few countries you can't watch from, think it depends on TV rights?). time zone is a bit awful for most of the games, but it's a fun league!

thus far our only consensus in a decade plus has been the sport so this will be complicated

I’m gonna go sleep as it is 1am but I wow I feel genuinely sick. Nothing we can do whilst our club and sport is ruined.

What other sad trophyless team will I root for that will constantly disappoint me?

yeah, it's pretty rough catching K League games unless I wake up early for the late games, but it's always a joy to watch Seongnam get smashed, although we've been doing pretty well this year. i'm sure there's an implosion lined up at some point later in the season so we can enjoy our now-yearly relegation flirtation though!

I watch a lot of the A-League, so I feel that pain.

How do you think the K-League teams will do in the champions league this summer?

I highly suggest people in the USA look to local, independent clubs outside the MLS/USL closed ecosystem. The ESL is just a Euro version of this system that permeates the main US soccer leagues. Not everything has to be MLS/USL or bust, though I understand why people are drawn to it.

I still follow and support my local club, I just wish they were able to have better/easier ways to follow/watch. I miss going to the games, the atmosphere was always fantastic.

hm, hard to say I think?
Jeonbuk are finally free of Morais, and the new manager was a member of staff back under Choi Kanghee (the manager who made them into the absolute powerhouse they are/were in recent years) so I'd expect them to do well. Spend a lot of money by Korean standards, and are incredibly dominant when they're on their game.
Ulsan are the defending champions, although they also have a new manager, so it could be rough for them? seems they're doing alright in the league right now though, 2nd with a 6/2/2 record.
I think I heard that Pohang got way weaker in this window, selling a lot of their better foreign players, so I don't really expect much from them, I think. Maybe they scrape out of groups?
I expect even less from Daegu. One of those teams who do well enough but I don't really ever hear anything spectacular about them? They only qualified because Sangju both can't play continental football (because they're a military team) and because they disbanded and reformed in Gimcheon, and Daegu are currently 10th in the league right now, 2/4/4. I'd be a little surprised if they make it into groups when they have to beat out Shanghai or Cerezo Osaka to get in.

I can't say I know much about the state of other Asian football, but of the 4 from Korea I wouldn't be overly surprised if you told me that you're from 2022 and that Jeonbuk won it. They're 8 wins 2 draws in the league right now, 6 points clear, and I wouldn't be surprised if they widen that gap further.

EDIT: actually let me amend this because I just looked at Pohang's group. they ~should~ easily get out of this group, but I don't think they go much further than that.

I agree with just about a lot of this, I think the knockout stages will be very J/K league heavy, though the group with Shanghai SIPG, Yokohama, and Jeonbuk will be a tight one, could go to anyone in that group really.
