Sounds like insiders are saying this is a USA lead venture and certain teams feel they had to join to not get left behind. Believe the first, think the second is a cover your ass point.

Theyre 100% banking on advertisers going “yeah, people would rather watch United-Madrid in the super league than West Ham-Villarreal in the UCL”

It will be very interesting to see who gets US television rights. That’ll say a lot about this first point.

If we won the EL this year we would be back in the CL without half the big clubs... And we are throwing that away lol?

I think La Liga backs down. It can’t survive without Barcelona and the Madrids. And they know it.

Serie A still having Roma, Napoli, and Lazio as strong teams create a different story there.

Who tf knows with the Premier League.

ESPN is the “worldwide leader in sports” but has no European powerhouse league. I can see them encouraging this to get the big teams.

As if watching footy over here was confusing enough

Premier League will back down. They know they need to money too. And they'd be worst affected by it too, with 6 clubs being involved.

Kick the damn teams out of the league. Teams playing half the amount of games in this Super League is going to work how? Also think fans are going to turn on this idea significantly.

Uh, it's got the Danish Superliga and 2.Bundesliga, it's got plenty of Euro powerhouses

Fucking wild how some these Americans who got their soccer start with MLS are just taking that same idea to Europe. Closed system = guaranteed profit. It’s a joke, the MLS is a joke and this new league is no different.

It will add a minimum of 20 games to the season (up to 7 more if you make the knockouts). Players really supposed to play 70-80 game seasons? Baffling.

Who exactly got their start with MLS?

The top three executives being Madrid, Juventus, and United is interesting. You’d think some of their rivals wouldn’t have joined.

I know I keep harping on this, but if UEFA is really going to tell Portugal they can’t call up Ronaldo anymore, or that England can’t call up Harry Kane, etc, it’s going to get even messier.

Kroenke would be the only one. Should have mentioned MLS and other American sports leagues. It’s the whole closed system American mindset.

Teams are only rivals to the fans. If it makes money all teams are best friends.

Kroenke would sell human slaves if he thought there was legal profit involved.
