Leave it to Florida to openly pass racist, unconstitutional bills that give Ron DeSantis and police the ability to bypass the limits of their jurisdiction. I don’t have strong enough words for how fucked up this is or what I think should happen to Ron for everything he’s done as Governor.

 

Like. If the BLM protests didn’t show it enough, this confirms it on paper. If the judicial branch doesn’t strike Florida HB1 down then that’s really bleak precedent that further weakens the first amendment. If a cop can arbitrarily dole out third degree felony charges then protesting straight up isn’t legal. This is legitimately the kind of legislation a police state would pass.

(But it IS now protected by a legal clause in Florida to slaughter protestors with a car. Unfathomable.)

 

I hate Desantis so much. The dude is worshipped by conservatives down here and they can't wait to vote for him to be president some day.
