Bad Selection is so fucking catchy

 

I don’t know much about the background/members of this band but I hear Genghis Tron all over this

 

The drummer in the video is Urian Hackney of Rough Francis and he almost definitely *actually* played drums on the record, he is a beast. That’s probably the only instrument they can’t really hide who’s playing it.

 

Ben Koller also plays on this

 

would also be surprised if chris pennie wasn’t on it.

 

i’ve known urian since he was 12 and we had a punk band w his brother jules. He’s a killin drummer. His older brother bobby is amazing too, he was in the static age (who are very underrated)

I don’t think I understand a single word they say on this until Bad Selection but I’m into this record a lot. It’s captivating!

 

if i have one complaint, which i don’t, it’s that the mix isn’t great and you can barely hear the vocals

 

This album is such a weird mix of things, like Dillinger, the maximalism of bands like Fang Island and Sleigh Bells, pop...it’s one of the more creative records I’ve heard in a long time. Not much sounds like it imo

 

I laugh every time I listen to Big Shell at just how fucking brutal it is

listened to Only Love last night. really enjoyed that one, too. Fortune's Daughter might be my favorite song by them

 

Are their other albums similar to this at all?

 

Only Love is the only one I've listened to, but very similar vibes. they don't go for it quite like they do here but there's still a lot to like about it

 

I think I prefer Only Love to this album. But I’ve only listened once so far. Gonna dive in again today while working out

Someone said this is Dillinger Escape Plan covering Passion Pit.

 

Well, this certainly surprised me. Wasn't expecting to be wowed by it as their last one didn't do much for me. By the end, I was hooked. Definitely an album that will get better with every listen.
