my assumption is no bags means not having to have a bag check, which by nature encourages close contact and lots of touching of people's belongings - so this kind of avoids that, but a lot of the comments are from people expressing concern about personal dietary/medical/hygiene items that typically are carried that may not fit comfortably in any pockets or attire they are wearing. and staples center was basically like "well there are lockers outside", which doesnt answer the questions or really provide a solution. and just a ton of men being like "ladies just put tampons in your pockets".

it's not good to exclude women and parents with kids and people with disabilities from attending games. purses and bags are essential to their day to day lives

  12. have you ever seen women pants? They don't have real pockets. Where is my wife going to hold her tampons, her wallet, her phone, her medication?

outside lockers are no help for people with disabilities as they aren't usually large enough for them to store their items.

    It's a bad rule

Is it because they manually inspect bags (in theory to keep weapons out, but in reality to keep liquor out) and it isn't safe to have someone manually going through bag after bag so instead of being like "lets just use metal detectors and if people sneak a plastic flask and some snacks in good for them" they gotta go "NO BAGS"?

  15. essentially - instead of thinking of a way to be safe and inclusive they decided to just ban bags

I read up to this point and couldn't get any further because the entire premise is flawed:

"If the reform movement wants to see changes actually enacted, instead of denouncing the bill’s opponents as enemies of democracy, it ought to consider appealing to the sensibilities of Manchin and other political misfits who are wary of framing democratic reform as a partisan cause."

One party in this country wants more people to vote. The other wants fewer people to vote. No one is "framing" democratic reform as a partisan cause, it IS a partisan cause.

You must have missed the paragraphs before it, where they basically said that even if they tied Manchin to a chair and got him to remove the fillibuster HR1 as written wouldn't pass the Democrats in Congress.

No, I read that, but it's belied by the fact that every other senator who caucuses with the democrats co-sponsored it.

I just skimmed through more and it appears to just be anti-progressive fearmongering. No thanks.

Again, I maintain the best way to improve HR1 would be to actually make it law.

A friend of mine was able to register me for the Pfizer vax this Sunday and second dose on 5/9 cuz her company is hosting a vaccine clinic and employees can sign up friends and family.
