Yeah no she didn't specifically say anything about cancel culture and it's the NME being shitty clickbait merchants again, like they've been known to do.

EDIT: actually fuck it, cancel culture doesn't exist. what you think is 'cancel culture' is basic fucking accountability

  2. This is why I think there's immense value in asking people to define it first. Gives you somewhere to go in the conversation instead of a vague, nebulous, undefined "cancel culture" boogeyman that doesn't actually exist.

"Accountability" in the music/entertainment sphere is also a term that usually needs definition. It's not nearly as loaded a term as "cancel culture", but still needs unpacking.

Bassnectar responded through his attorney and of course denied the allegations despite stepping away from music last year after things came out.

Isn’t he, like, on tape admitting to sleeping with a 17 year old and then trying to guilt her into not doing anything about it?

Fuck that person. To hear their voice try to backtrack and find ways to weasel through. Fuck that.

Kelly's contract was absolutely insane, her most recent album (2017) was the first one she released out of the contract. She was stuck in it for FOURTEEN years. Plus she was contractually obligated to make From Justin To Kelly, which is bad enough on it's own

As if MGK couldn’t get any worse, he’s playing a full capacity show in Florida in 2 weeks. Things are looking better for the future but this? Right now? Well, it is Florida after all but still extremely irresponsible.

I don't know how much protection you can have a full capacity show that's almost guaranteed to sell out. People are going to be body to body. What an asshole.

Is he selling that well still? Thought the pop punk album was pretty mediocre outside of the Halsey track, I know his album before that flopped, and then Em didn’t help with Killshot.

    Things have changed.

There were two massive crossover hits on the pop-punk album.

He has two songs that are doing well on both alternative and Top 40. That, along with him not doing a concert in the US since the release of his album, it will for sure sell out.

Yeah he is pretty huge right now. Weirdly big with some people my age who I haven’t heard talk about music since like...2009 and blink went on tour

I'm glad it's not just me who feels this way. I'm the only person who kept up with pop-punk/scene/DIY/whatever in several friend circles, and I swear I've had 10 different people I haven't spoken to in years message me out of nowhere to ask if I've heard his new album. Unfortunately, a lot of people love it

He's definitely on the forefront of this quasi emo/pop-punk revival. Our alt-rock station is basically him, blackbear, 24kgoldn, AJR and Juice WRLD.
