I missed the boat on Socom. Would love a modern 32 player Socom

 

Yeah I hate these comparisons. They aren't even aimed towards the same market.

 

A quick Google search might answer my question, but why the heck isn't SOCOM a thing anymore? Seems like it would do well these days when online multi is what it is today vs. when it first came out.

 

Because companies are stupid and so many higher ups actually have no idea what their audience wants.

Also probably because they don't want to risk making a studio dedicate 3 years to a game that may or may not turn out well and may or may not be received well even if it is good. It could easily be squashed like Titanfall 2 by trying to go up against industry giants like Battlefield and Call Of Duty.

Long story short, Sony blows.

There's still literally nothing else that plays like it now (not to mention War of the Monsters, Parappa, Primal, Mark of Kri, etc) so that would be cool to see and would also give the lead developer something to do instead of ranting on his streams and twitter account so much lol, if he ends up being asked to direct it

 

TLOU remake is just so stupid and unnecessary lol. I can’t wrap my head around it

 

Sony is straight up stupid. So many dormant franchises that they could pull from and they’re wasting time trying to remake The Last of Us and Uncharted 1. What a joke. They’re getting to be like Nintendo in that way, letting tons of valuable IP get wasted in favor of focusing on the few biggest ones. Extremely frustrating.

 

The nostalgia in me wants a game like Twisted Metal back, but with Destruction All Stars around it doesn't make a lot of sense. Honestly, it should have been marketed as apart of the franchise. I have learned that if it were to come back, it wouldn't have much staying power with me.

 

There’s so many great franchises that PS could revive and pump life into so that news just sucks.

They ended up at EA, so that definitely won't be an issue.

 

The Last of Us still looks better than most games that come out today and is playable on PS4/PS5. One of the least needed remakes out there.

of this series, Ive only played Munchs Odyssey - but its one of the very best games I can think of. but I know its 3D and like every other game in the series is 2D. Ive wondered how much Id enjoy the 2D ones.

 

One of the main reasons nobody is bringing back those IP is development costs. Risk taking is becoming increasingly rare.

 

My parents bought Abe's Oddysee for us on a whim when we got our Playstation back in the day, and that's the only one I've played, but I'll definitely try Soulstorm since it's free

 

After reading that, the only wrong step Sony seems to have made is the fact that they didn’t shut down the idea of Naughty Dog game remakes entirely.

It’s misleading for Schreier to say that people at VASG weren’t allowed to start something new, they were only looking to get their own remake off the ground. If they were denied an opportunity to go on and actually make a new game and new IP, that’s a different story.

Also touching on the Sony Bend stuff, Jason laid it out that they were unhappy with being assigned to the Naughty Dog multiplayer game/new Uncharted project and that Sony approved the request of leadership from Sony Bend’s leadership to let them work on their own game and new IP.

Am I missing something, or is that new Uncharted game on ice now because Sony Bend moved on to a new game? If VASG had the TLOU remake taken out of their hands, I feel like that Uncharted game would be perfect for them to take over.

 

How about we just let Uncharted and TLOU go dark and either revive some old franchises or make some new IP lol is that so much to ask.

 

Sony just seems to miss the boat a lot of the time. Journalist, developers and fans will tell them all the same thing about now we want old IPs, how backwards compatibility actually does matter, how crossplay is important (thankfully they've finally been beaten into submission on that), how PS Now is not a viable option against something like Game Pass and yet they just don't seem to care. They think just because they were on top during PS4 that they'll always be on top and yet Switch is four years in and dominating the market and Microsoft is literally about to eat their lunch. It's a shame about Sony's hubris at this point.

 

Also having no consistency or ease when it comes to next gen upgrades needs to be worked out. Stuff like MLB The Show where you require me to buy a $84.99 collector's edition to get both the PS4 and PS5 version really sucks.

 

God damn saw like 3 pages I missed on here, but I had a feeling what it was about.


I'm indifferent as fuck to 'console wars' I legit never comment on it or read the debates y'all have, but Microsoft just buying companies and what not with their practically infinite money they have available to them as a 'strategy' is a major problem.
