A four hour cut of this would've been fine if it had spent a little less time trying to be cool--and failing--and a little more time introducing the three JL members we're seeing for the first time. For something that thinks of itself as the most awesome thing ever, it's amazingly average. This coming from someone who generally enjoys superhero movies.

 

Yeah, I remember the first time I saw JL, I think I actually winced at some of the """badass""" group poses. And the Snyder cut has five time as much of that. When it could have had some visually breathtaking steppendong

I think it's tough given how these people are supposed to be gods and Darkseid needed to be massive. I do hope Duvarney grounds it a bit more. If they can keep both worlds separate, I think that'd be best.

 

Is he from earth in the comics?

 

Nope, he's from Apokolips, where Darkseid and all the other baddies of Jack Kirby's Fourthworld come from. All those characters tended to be drawn (besides Darkseid) back in the day as extremely human, just in funny suits. It's only been more recently that the more "alien" looks have started to be used.

 

I actually would have been fine with his design in the 2017 version if they just used a big dude in a suit instead of some of the shittiest cgi I've ever seen in a modern, fully-budgeted studio film. Both of the designs are kinda silly, but honestly for me it just kinda comes with the territory. Thanos' design is pretty fucking silly too, it's just that he had more variables working in his favor so you can kinda overlook his silly design and get lost in the story.

 

Took me four days, but I got through it. Enjoyed it a ton more than the Whedon cut. Flash and Cyborg parts being fleshed out were great. Sucks that the whole thing is a green screen mess, but what are you gonna do.

Not sure if this got posted or not. Some pretty interesting information here. So originally the ending with Martian Manhunter was actually the John Stewart Green Lantern but Warner Bros. wouldn’t let him do it because they had their own plans for the character. In the end they made him change the reveal to Martian Manhunter. So we would have still had the earlier scene with Martian Manhunter and then Green Lantern at the end.

And he does confirm here as well that those leaks were legitimate for the most part. The next film would have been the Knightmare world after Darkseid takes over and Superman kills literally everyone except The Flash who gets away just in time to travel back and warn Batman to save Lois. The plot description sounds pretty similar to Endgame. He also confirms here that Batman would have sacrificed himself, Wonder Woman would become queen of Themyscira, and Superman would become de facto leader in Batman’s absence. Lois Lane would have then given birth to Clark’s child (so not Bruce’s as that leak indicated) who would have no powers and would then grow up to be the next Batman. Snyder had planned to introduce Barbara Gordon who would take over after her father retires and take on the mentor role to Clark and Lois’s son. So it sounds very much like he was intending for this to lead to Terry in a new Batman Beyond series.

Damn so this wasn't actually Snyder's whole creative vision after all. Guess we have to spend the next four years harassing people to #ReleaseTheGreenLanternCut

 

I wonder why the CGI in this looks so unfinished. I watched Godzilla vs. Kong yesterday and the effects are overall superior. I thought with WB behind both they'd have access to the same CGI teams? Is it a budget thing? Just curious as to the ins and out of it.

 

My partner put this on and it’s been an hour. Fuck me there is so much wasted time in this it’s not even funny. It was my biggest complaint about BvS and this is 10 times worse. There’s no need for every single scene to be so slow.

 

Yeah watched up to Part 3 with my dad today and the visuals are amazing for a lot of it but it's already dragging like crazy. What the fuck was that singing scene at the beginning when Aquaman went in the water lol

 

that's not half as bad as the scene with aquaman walking down the docks. there are so so so many scenes in it that don't make any sense but are there because they're "epic".
