It's essentially letterboxing and it's awful. Not a fan. As someone who worked on interface for a broadcast for the NFL draft we were told we had to accommodate this random blank space at the bottom for different aspect ratios.

My biggest complaint about this switch to Bally Sports doesn’t end with the cropping and the score bug at the bottom, but I noticed a change (that I can’t exactly explain) to what seems like programming reallllllly geared to people who still have Trump/Pence 2020 signs in their yard.

 

If they’re such losers, then how do you explain this
