So excited to finally hear mbv. Got into Loveless around the time of its release in ‘13, but never checked it out.

 

When listening to Loveless for the first time I always tell people to play it loud as hell and just let it consume you

 

Especially on To Here Knows When, crank it to 11 and vibe the fuck out.

 

Haha yup - it’s amazing in a car too. That album is as physical as it is aural, you really feel that shit lol

 

Kevin said in the past that the reason they were so loud was because of that just that, it would make him and Belinda feel high in his own words when they were writing that stuff. There’s also an amusing anecdote that when they toured on Loveless, they would be so damn loud that people in the audience would scream at them to turn it down because it was too much to handle.

 

Saw them in 2013 and it was a top 3 show of my lifetime, and I'm grateful to have experienced it.

They weren't louder than Neurosis though

 

Yea, when I saw them live it wasn't the loudest ever or anything (can't remember if i ended up wearing earplugs or not) but the immersion factor was bonkers and it sounded closer to album quality than expected.

 

I can only imagine how loud Neurosis gets live

 

Pretty sure both Young Widows and GY!BE are the loudest bands I've ever seen

Very slow mbv-inspired shoegaze

 

Basque shoegaze band ARIMA released a new EP last Friday

 

this sounds weird but it reminds me of the 1975 as a shoegaze band. its actually quite cool tho

their new single is less so

 

Not a huge fan of this or the EP sadly. I think it borders more on post punk at times than shoegaze. I think it’s the vocals. Cant put my finger on it.

 

i really dig the ep but yeah the vocals on this one are a bit grating

 

this kinda reminds me of hinata or some other synthy dream pop, emphasis on pop, stuff

 

Still one of my favs
