Just dropping in to say the zombie cop scenes in Psycho Goreman were some of the best laughs I've had in months.

Watching Videodrome for the first time!

  4. Watched Eden Lake for the first time. It gets props for how bleak it is.

Also rewatched Lake Mungo. Still very good. I ALMOST pre-ordered the special release that Second Sight just put up, but it would come out to $50+ including shipping and I couldn't bring myself to spend that much.

    This looks fun.

  5. Hell yeah, enjoy, it's a wild ride

It certainly was. That was my first “core” Cronenberg. I guess I’ll do The Fly next

  7. Highly recommend The Brood and Crash, probably round out my top three of his along with Videodrome. My favorite director.

Have always wanted to see Eden Lake but have always waited for it to become available for streaming somewhere. Lake Mungo was rad and I was really surprised by how great it was.

That trailer shows quite a bit, but I'd be lying if I said this isn't the most excited I've been for a Saw release since II.

  11. Eden Lake is free on the Plex app as well as Tubi. Both options will have ads, though. It was my first time streaming something on Plex that wasn't from my personal collection, and the navigation kept messing up if I wanted to rewind, so I'd try Tubi.

Alien 3 was a disappointment given the director. Finally making it to Resurrection tonight!

Resurrection makes Alien 3 look like a masterwork lmao

  20. I bought Alien Isolation on sale on a whim but--please don't yell at me--I haven't seen any of the movies.

I have a soft spot for Resurrection just because of the cast and classic group-tries-to-escape-cool-practical-FX-set-and-gets-picked-off-one-by-one plot.

And where else are you gonna get Ron Perlman, Sigourney Weaver, Brad Dourif and Winona Ryder together? Only on an alien planet that’s where.

yeah it's a bummer that all of those actors were totally miscast and had to deliver godawful Joss Whedon dialogue

movie honestly makes me feel vaguely ill. not in the good horror movie way

That whole underwater segment was super tight butthole though. Also, the idea of a human/Xenomorph hybrid is honestly cool

It wasn’t his fault though, that blame belongs to the Fox execs who meddled the living fuck out of that movie. Hell, it originally had a completely different plot and director but the execs balked at his vision so they fired him and gave it to Fincher, who literally tried his best to do what he could what was given to him. To this day, he refuses to have anything to do with it because of what Fox did to him while he filmed it.

I honestly just really like the Assembly Cut, it's still obviously a film made under compromise but it has a few transcendent moments
