Vinyl came in the mail. I didn't want the album to end. I really liked this on first listen.

Enjoyed my first listen, excited to give it another go

Liked Fight Beat actually, the weirder they get the better haha

Do wish Big Mouth was on here as well though

First impression, that was pretty sick! Threw it on the headphones while working on a puzzle and bounced in my seat nearly the entire time. Wasn’t paying much attention to song titles, but using context clues from previous comments, I’m pretty sure I know which one Fight Beat was haha, which I actually kinda dug. Reminded me of when B&C did For A Walk

I still think there are a lot of instrumental parts where there’s something left to be desired melodically, but this is probably overall their best crack so far at writing parts that feel memorable and making good use of all the members. I can see that Death Dance riff getting stuck in my head, and I’ve already spent many days humming that little guitar part in the Kill You bridge. Winter Buds is an accomplishment in this way too

Anyway, a great sound for them and I’m excited to listen to this a bunch and become more acquainted with it

Record is pretty solid but I do think that a few tracks start to blend together. I think it’s the drums and guitar tones? I don’t know.

With that said; Winter Buds and Edge of the World are fantastic. Hardcore Strokes vibes on Edge..

Speaking of hardcore vibes - Mat’s love for Mortal Kombat bled into Fight Beat hah

Definitely agree on instrumentals lacking on some tracks.

Mat, however, has never sounded better IMO

Wasn’t as floored on this as I thought I’d be after Blue Sunday but still a pretty good record. Title track is especially good.

This is really good. Pedestal was prob my fav, big “The Hand That Feeds” vibe from the groove on that one

We reach for the longest shadow

This is cool, but I love their previous sounds too, and I wish that wasn't completely abandoned here.

I really dig this. Edge of the World is a great closer and the lyrics to Call Your Bluff are stuck in my head after two listens. Death Dance also sounds like something that would fit on Sturgill's latest record.

Fight Beat is awesome, except the awkward ending/transition to "Black and Red".

The whole thing is very good. I dig this sound/vibe for them, it suits Mat's voice well and let's him bring in more of the pop sensibilities from his solo stuff.

First listen and this is really good. Loved every song, but Pedestal and Winter Buds really stood out to me at first. The latter reminds me a bit of Youth. Will be jamming this lots.

I’m very into this sound from them. Death Dance Approximately is such a great opener, definitely one of the standouts for me.

This doesn’t really feel like an abandonment to me? You can draw a straight line from As You Please to this album pretty easily imo

Starts out with a bang! Feeling this a little more than As You Please, but I don't see them ever topping Youth.

Really enjoy this. I like certain songs from their previous albums but this is a easily my favorite front to back. This one feels a lot more energetic than their previous stuff

Wow. Randomly decided to give this a spin as Citizen hasn't been my thing the past couple albums. Digging the dancy guitars with tinges of that past fuzzy emo-ish sound.

The record is definitely growing on me more with repeat listens. I just wish there a little more variety like Blue Sunday has.. but hey maybe they will explore that a little more next go around. I definitely already enjoy this more than As You Please.
