since I got my 2nd shot and I'm antsy as hell, I went ahead bought a ticket for Purity Ring in November

 

Socially distanced pods concert. Is this like the Flaming Lips' concert where the fans were inside bubbles?

 

That would make moshing fun

 

I'm going to one of those shows, and then Mt. Joy/Michigander the weekend after at the same venue.

Looks like that show was originally a Shaky Knees aftershow from 5/20/20. Wonder if this new date is legit or not.

Yeah I really missed booking shows in NYC venues and having only 20 people show up

 

That's a tale as old as time booking any touring band anywhere though.

I actively try to every time, it's just physically impossible most of the time.

 

With the Jinjer/Suicide Silence shows announced should we expect to see more rescheduled and/or new tours to be announced soon? I feel like we're just in such a weird time between where the vaccine rollout is actually pretty good, but it's difficult to know when the right time is to get excited about live music coming back.

 

One of my friends is the booking agent at a 800 cap venue in upstate ny. At least there, he was telling me that they’re taking it slow and only have one national act scheduled so far for 2021. (That act is no one anyone here would probably be interested in). Long story short - probably depends on the venues, when they feel comfortable booking again.

 

I’ve never even heard of this band... If SS is opening, does this mean that band has gotten huge? Or has SS fallen that much?

 

Both. Jinjer is a hype band at the moment afaik. Suicide Silence has been on a slow decline for forever now.

 

Ever since Mitch died, it seems like SS haven't really released a universally acclaimed album. Jinjer definitely have the forward momentum right now, although I think part of the buzz they had early on was just the novelty of having a woman screamer front the band, which kinda neglects the fact that Tatiana's also just really fucking good as a vocalist in general.

 

I agree with all of this! Also, You Can't Stop Me showed to people that SS could carry on without Mitch, but the Self-Titled was awful (at least to me) and I think a lot of the newer fans they gained from YCSM and older fans that came from Mitch jumped ship.
