I didn't realize SYGD was so hated lol. I like it!

 

I honestly don't know most C&K or Kintsugi songs by name, I've heard both those albums plenty of times but nothing really ever stuck.

 

I really need a reason behind not liking SYGD because that just sounds absolutely insane to me. Even the video is awesome.

 

It's a very sweet song and takes on even more meaning when you consider what happened between C&k and Kintsugi

Songs haven't been great since Transatlanticism voice hasn't been good since Narrow Stairs but he's sounded much better on all the youtube shows so I'm hopeful

 

The songs on Plans are great

 

I don't really like Plans much, but you're right. My big beef with it is it lost like 90% of the Chris Walla sound charm. I should revise my post and say the production hasn't been great since Transatlanticism, the songs and voice haven't been great since 4 songs into Narrow Stairs.

I don’t really hear the difference in vocals post Narrow Stairs. Can someone point out a part or a song that really highlights it?

 

I actually feel like it's really apparent right from the get-go on Narrow Stairs tbh. Hard to explain. Just cleaner, sharper vocals. Feels like he's singing with more technique than emotion sometimes. I'm sure the change in songwriting is a part of it, though. (Plans is their last truly great album in my opinion).

 

In case anyone here hasn't heard this, you should change that because this is the most beautiful DCFC cover of all time.

Pretty surprised at the hate SYGD is getting. It’s a beautiful song if you ask me and easily one of the best tracks off Codes.

Also, Death Cab have yet to make a bad record. That includes Codes. Y’all are just mean lol

I like C&K and TYFT is even better, never really got into Kintsugi, but I still know it's not a BAD record. I'm actually genuinely shocked at the Narrow Stairs hate because that album is seriously fantastic... I'd agree that their older stuff hit me more but can't say they've ever made a straight up bad record.

Try "Little Bribes," the first song on the Open Door EP. Comparing his voice there to anything pre-Narrow Stairs is like night and day to me. (Again, the songwriting being somewhat different is also a contributing factor.)
