The dialogue in this was bad, I liked seeing more Cyborg, give the sequel to someone else, please. Also jettison Jared Leto into the sun.

Of course, The Batman is going to be great, The Suicide Squad is going to be great, I have faith that Aquaman 2 and Shazaam 2 will be at least fun times. And best of all, Snyder isn't involved anymore.

I believe I am about halfway through this. I am enjoying it and it is certainly much, much better than the 2017 film, but this really plays like an assembly cut. I swear you can actually feel the beat in almost each and every scene where they should cut away, but they don't, and the sequence continues to go on for ten, sometimes even twenty minutes beyond that point. It serves to dilute the power of the scenes that do work, similar to how just relentlessly cutting a film down more and more can also kill it, only in reverse. I feel like Snyder needed to lose almost all of the slo-mo that doesn't involve The Flash and bring this thing in under or right around three hours, similar to the runtimes of Infinity War & Endgame. The overall runtime of this is more like a mini-series but the sequences themselves aren't scripted or shot that way - this is set up just like a movie where the scenes are paced glacially and just go on and on and on.

I know it is a cliché at this point to make fun of Snyder's use of extreme slo-mo, but it is so overused in this film it isn't even funny. Aside from the fact that it takes away from it's actual practical application in showing us The Flash's abilities, and aside from the fact that you should just avoid drawing the proceedings out this much in a film that already runs past four hours simply out of decency, it is used so much that it loses any and all effect. The fact that Cyborg's entire football game flashback plays out in insanely slow motion honestly plays like a parody of a Zack Snyder movie. I'm assuming it's because the snow or rain or whatever precipitation there was just looked cool that way, but he at least could have had the decency to just do the trick where it snaps into and out of slow-mo just at key parts, like only in the moment when Ray Fisher is jumping over some dude's head but then cut back to normal motion. It honestly just feels like everything is in slow motion for no reason and your mind wanders and you start to look around the room for something to distract you, like how the annoying guy grabbed a hot dog in the middle of his pervy rescue.

There are so many terrible decisions and creative choices here but they honestly just reinforce what a huge pile of shit the 2017 movie was because this is so much better. It isn't even close.

My god Zack planned for Clark and Lois’ son to become Batman lol.

again had fun with this. Love the cast, much better than 2017, but let’s look ahead now. Glad he got his vision out.

I’m excited for Suicide Squad & Batman, and intrigued by Black Adam. Out of projects earlier in development, I’m interested in New Gods, Superman, & Static.

Jaume Collet-Serra. He directed "The Shallows" and a lot of Liam Neeson's post-"Taken" action movies.

goddammit, this was mostly okay. can't believe four months ago someone probably would've made a fortune betting on this being better than ww84

That Batman-Joker exchange was one of the weirdest things I've ever seen

This was better than the theatrical version, but should have been at least an hour shorter. And the epilogue was largely unnecessary.

  21. Things I genuinely enjoyed:

    - Superman being Superman
    - Martian Manhunter. For some reason the only character that I was able connect with? There's something about how everyone else is characterized here that makes them feel so... stale? Martian Manhunter had this natural charisma everyone else lacked. The Flash's humor was so terribly forced and annoying

It does do a lot of things better than the theatrical version (and most of those things are simply due to it having a way longer runtime than it would have ever had) but it also does a lot of things worse than the theatrical version. On balance for me it's about the same level of bad as the theatrical version. It's just bad in different ways.

An hour in so far and this is very boring. Definitely going to continue to break it up into pieces.

Granted, I am not a comic book reader, but the silly looking CGI bad guys really started to blend together for me. I had to pause the movie and do a little wikipedia-ing when Steppenwolf was talking to the radioactive block of rock and it didn't really look like Darkseid, and it turns out it was Desaad. (I think.) And I swear they were talking about a fourth guy but I could be wrong about that.

Snyder's deadly serious, heavy-handed take doesn't really mesh well with all of the silly names like Mother Boxes and Darkside (but spelled Darkseid) and Granny Goodness.
