I mean, the greatest hits works.

Buuuttt

Tonight’s The Night, Harvest, Everyone Knows This is Nowhere, On The Beach, Zuma, Time Fades Away, Live Rust, Rust Never Sleeps, Harvest Moon, Weld, and Ragged Glory

are ALBUMS that you need to dive into.

I like more of the heavy stuff, but most everything is so good. Literally one of the best discographies in music.

 

I think they’re hesitant to really turn it up at the house.


But, when they move, crank it to 11.

 

I grew up on After the Gold Rush and Harvest.

He has an absurd amount of albums.

 

Yes, also After the Gold Rush.


And this year he’s releasing 10 more. lol

 

This version of Pale Black Eye > the SM version.

 

Those laid back versions were great

 

Record. Release. Another alt version release like Hope or Shake It Out would be welcomed. Or a cover EP

 

There is an entire stripped-down version of METN that was released as a Christmas special years ago.

 

I think it was the following Christmas? Maybe?

The 12 Days of Manchester Orchestra Christmas.

I listen to The Beach by Neil Young constantly because of AH including it in the Ameoba Records "Whats in your bag?" vid on YouTube.

after watching that rehearsal vid, I realize now that I need MO to do an EP of alt-country covers of some of their tunes in the vein of those renditions of Now That You're Home & Pale Black Eye

You really dig his drugged out blues music, huh? Harvest has to be in my top three for sheer number of classic songs, though On The Beach is probably my personal favorite.

if yall like the idea of this band doing folksier stuff,

 

The ditch records are just so fucked on their premise, that it makes for greatness.

He saw Harvest’s success, and literally steered his career ‘into a ditch’ to offset it because it weirded him out so much. That’s heavy.

 

It was at this exact moment my childhood hopeful innocence was stripped from me, and I became a bitter resentful teenager.

But, whatever, he’s the greatest lefty of all time and wore 41 for a couple years that we never talk about.

 

Rust Never Sleeps was always my favorite.

 

They’re sitting on so much shit.

Pre-kids especially, they seemed to just jam around the clock at the old studio.
