finally found time to sit down with this and my best description is basically just how pleasant it sounds.

feels like i'll be listening to this a lot as the seasons change

Let's give it up for Ben doing the drums on Spin but COME ON. Teddy is bringing the fire on this LP.

    forbidden chalice.

I think Commit might be the band's best song

I keep trying to go back to this but the only song that really sticks is cat's cradle.

I haven’t had any desire to return to this. I’ll try again in a few weeks.

Same here unfortunately, I enjoyed my first two listens but haven’t really felt the need to go back to it. Same thing that happened with Spin.

Same, there was nothing about my early listens that struck me as worth revisiting. I feel like i've heard these songs before but maybe that's just because they feel very generic, like they set out to write this record with a checklist of things that feel inherently "Tigers Jaw," and it all just ends up feeling contrived and inauthentic. Not that their first few records were doing anything particularly experimental or innovative, but at least they felt alive and spirited. I don't like gauging the level of sincerity in art, though, because there's no way for me (or anyone) to decide what's authentic and what's not... Still, this album really feels like a "whimper" when their earlier albums feel like a "shout," if that makes sense.

  12. this is similar to spin but to me it's a little more succinct and I think the songs stand apart from each other a little better. I also think the hooks are sharper and bigger than before (save like "Guardian"). it's not earth-shattering but I think it's a good pop rock album and it's gone great with the nice weather

Warn Me sounds more Spin than anything on this album honestly. I wouldn't have minded on here though since the song is good.

I was always led to believe he did the bass, drums, and guitars in studio, (maybe with some Will help? 'Cause I know he can play.) then Teddy jumped in quickly after for touring and so on.. But yeah I thought there was an old interview where they mention it.

Just saw that Andy Hull does guest vocals on the first song but I just can't hear him. Can anyone pick him out? I'm assuming it's towards the end. He's got a pretty distinct voice, at least to me he does. Also being a big fan of all his works and guest spots I can usually pick him out.
