3 people I respect in my daily life, similar ages as me have never seen or even knew that The Big Green was a movie, at all. I was sure it existed, I really was

 

It does and doesn't exist. It only exists if you were a kid during the great big "kid live action sports"/mostly profitable on vhs boom of the 90s.

Its "okay now let's do a soccer movie" of that genre.

 

It’s got Steve Guttenberg in it!

 

The trailer for this one keeps popping up as an ad during videos on Facebook and YouTube lately and I keep thinking, "Man, this one is destined for that one thread on Chorus." Guess I was right.

 

I actually watched it and it's not nearly as terrible as the RT score would have you believe. But it's not good either. Just extremely average with no real arc. The cast is crazy though.

 

I think of stuff when this whenever some movie is announced and people get excited by the cast.

 

Movie posters are always very cool when done right: artistically appealing in their own right, while also succinctly visually conveying some key theme or element of the film.

So it’s always depressing how little film companies seem to care about that, as I figure they think that the best marketing ploy is to simply put the faces of the main stars on it and then give it the correct filter - dark and serious for drama, gritty and loud for action, light and colorful for comedy, etc.

 

Posters are / should be cool but I’m going to watch a trailer to get a feeling for the film’s vibe

I will say that I saw the trailer twice in theaters before movies and the rest of the audience were hounding over with laughter with what they saw.

 

I saw that movie in theaters twice in the same night. The first time because the muppet lover in me forced me to see it knowing it was gonna suck, and the second time because my buddy didn’t wanna go alone and offered to buy me a couple beers if we went to the bar theater

 

I will never watch that movie

 

Smart choice

 

One of the only 2/10s I’ve given in the last few years.

 

certain people who excitedly bought a ticket for deadpool 2 (which is what that trailer played before) definitely got a kick out of that THAT scene from the film
