  1. You’re right - it just sucks that he even has to do that

At the very least I was expecting the ring to collapse like when big show gets superplexed

Man what was that explosion. They get that weak stuff meanwhile Cody gets all the pyro in the world

Lmaooo I’m so glad Mox said this because clearly something didn’t go to plan.

Ehhh I don’t buy it a bit. It was clearly a botch.

positives: Maki Itoh, Shida, most of the matches were fun.

Id say its less of a botch than Roman/Heyman being unable to get the cuffs off, because that literally changes the match outcome too. But both are cases where a key spot just really, really didnt work.

I’m not shocked that a company that can’t sort out their audio levels when cutting to a backstage promo will fuck up something in an exploding barbed wire death match :crylaugh: I love watching AEW but man they need to chill on some stuff until they know the execute it.

    WHY CHRISTIAN, WHY?!

Also that “explosion” was hilarious. I saw everyone laughing and thought it couldn’t be that bad. Oh boy. A+ to Kingston for selling it, though.

At the end of the day it’s not that bad, at least it shouldn’t be. These things happen, but they really need to learn from them.

They’ve already fucked up with pyro before, but that hasn’t seemed to help them. The audio issues have been constant since they started. The unfortunate outcome of issues like that is I don’t think any AEW PPV outside of the first Double or Nothing is must watch. Most have been almost there, but teething issues have stopped that from being reality. I hope they just keep it simple for the next PPV. Just 5 or 6 straight up good wrestling matches. They have the talent in the roster to do that.

TBF most PPVs/specials haven't been must watch since covid. I can't remember anything truly special that's happened in a Takeover for quite a while either.

Yeah, I mean there are excuses that can be made. But a lot of AEW's issues are of their own making. Dynamite is great and they've done a good job of making covid wrestling watchable but man, they could be better and that's what's annoying as a fan.

Hell of a night to have their first shitty battle royale too. I've actually been constantly surprised at how not shitty AEW's battle royales are, then this tag team one happens and half the guys have no idea what they should be doing.

At least Miro looked like a fucking killer

What a fucking great show until it wasn’t.

AEW is still my fav US promotion right now, but what an absolute blow (pardon the pun) to their momentum.

Until that post match, Mox/Omega was everything I wanted it to be and more. And then the Kingston turn? FUCK! So good!

But, all people will remember now is sparklers.

Are they going to try to do the match again but on a regular show wcw style?

Nah just do a video package and CGI in some fake Michael Bay-esque explosion in there. Would be hilarious.

Tony said in the post show media scrum that Mox's promo after the show was canon, so they're just going with Kenny building bad bombs. I would think Eddie is basically going to come out and just say he passed out from the smoke or something. There's no good way to get out of this, especially since this was supposed to be the big write off for Moxley

The match ruled, but overall thought the show was a stinker up until the final two matches.

I enjoyed the PPV until end botch at the end. It didn’t ruin the show for me, but definitely took away from it. I thought the Tag Title, Women’s Title, ladder match and the main event were all very good. The battle royal and Hardy/Page were decent. The street fight was fun except the commentary. AEW definitely needs to fine tune some things, but the unpredictable nature of their shows is something I actually enjoy compared to WWE’s overproduction of every single moment of the show.

I thought the first half of the show was great and then it kinda got killed for me with the cinematic match and commentary talking constantly. It just didn't feel like they could decide what was the best tone for that match. Dark and ominous doesn't need commentary, imo.

I really liked the main event and the explosion fucking sucked but sometimes you have to shrug and say "we fucked up" and that the effects didn't work as intended. It's live. In hindsight, if you plan to build up a ring explosion so much during a match with one of your commentators saying 3+ times "x time until the RING EXPLODES" then maybe put the match in a safer environment where you can have a bigger explosion.

The cinematic match was beautifully shot and the action was good. I think it was kind of dumb that Darby didn’t get the pin though. I understand wanting to have Sting get a good win and he’s not going to do it in a standard match but ever since Darby won the title he hasn’t been booked to look like a great champion. He’s had some cool spots but it’s mostly been “I need Sting to save me”. And then acting like the match was live was kind of dumb too. But that’s the only way to make sense of Tazz being there because why would he show up if he knew they already lost. Like y’all said, cut the commentary.

It’s all just minor tweaks they need to make. Chalk it up to growing pains. For me, the biggest issue they need to address is the wrestlers themes. Almost all of them suck. And most of the time they get lost in the audio mix. You got money Tony. Get your version of Jim Johnston/CFO$!

They should have had the main event next door at the Jags stadium, would probably been better for more explosions

Wouldn't it have been cooler if they announced signing Christian and then he would have teased a new signing and then Big Show/Paul "The Height" Wight would have debuted at Revolution?

  24. koryoreo

    Trusted Supporter

Not really. WWE treated big show as a joke his last appearance and he’s going to be doing mostly commentary hopefully. Christian hasn’t wrestled in years and has more potential to contribute in the ring. Regardless it was way overhyped, but I don’t think announcing Wight instead of Christian would have made any difference. They are on similar levels to me.

yeah, bu then you have the audience watching two matches on screen. Really they should have only had one of those matches on the show.
