    If anyone's curious, here's the 20-song mix I made for 1973, enjoy!

Pretty unimpeachable batch of staples, but kudos for including “Chevy Van”. It seems like it should be stupid, but it ends up sweet and charming

Yeah a ton of classics I couldn't keep out. Chevy Van was a new find for me, cool ass song that is extremely smooth. Midnight at the Oasis was another new one for me that I constantly get stuck in my head now.

Nowhere else to post this, but I'm starting on 1972 albums now...

Al Green - Let's Stay Together
Really solid album throughout, the title track being the obvious standout, but the rest is solid.

Credence Clearwater Revival - Mardi Gras
I understand that this is their only album without Tom Fogerty and good lord does it show. If I wasn't such a completionist, I wouldn't finish this album. But it's only 28 minutes, so I might as well. "Someday Never Comes" is pretty good, but the rest is prettttttty rough.

I also never realized that CCR released 6 albums in 3 years, fucking WILD how quickly they churned out music when they were a full group. I know that artists released music quicker back then, but that's a pretty breakneck pace

In theory, really democratic and cool of John Fogerty to share the writing with the rest of the band. In practice...why bench one of the greatest of all time for a bar band rhythm section’s dabbling.

Curtis Mayfield's Super Fly is so damn good, top to bottom.

It's not February anymore but I'm doing a sophisti-pop deep dive. The Style Council, Scritti Politti, Prefab Sprout, Simply Red, Everything But the Girl etc.

I've found myself on RYM a little bit because the interface is much better than listnd. It's so wild to see what they tout as some of the best albums ever over there, haha. The Money Store by Death Grips is #71 on their best albums of all time list.

Loving Prefab Sprout. Style Council was not very good but "You're the Best Thing" was a solid song.

This was fun last year, enjoyed it a lot - a great way to "force" yourself to discover new music! Will make a list of this year, might try and combine it with the Years in Music threads, so I can check out some releases from the years we cover there.
