I love that this album is self titled again.

 

I... really do not feel this song. The guitar tones are good, but the vocals are incredibly dull and the lyrics leave a ton to be desired.

 

I think this songs feels more like EP American football than LP American football

 

This was the first AF song I've ever heard, and I've never listened to Owen

I liked this a lot. Listening to the first album now!

 

Well I love this song so I guess that means I need to check out the first record, finally.

 

Honestly some people would probably be pretty much be disappointed with every song that isn't "Never Meant"

 

I bet the album will have more standard song structures.

 

Mike Kinsella's having quite the year

 

yea, I got that vibe from the interview.

 

I love that people are experiencing this band for the first time, it always puts a smile on my face.

 

It's cool that that is happening but also like how?? I thought they were fairly ubiquitous and that the only people left were the people yet to go through the "discover emo/indie/math at 15" rite
it is only now that the emo revival can be considered a success /s

 

I keep forgetting not everyone has listened to AF. This is kind of amazing tbh.

I'm glad I haven't run into any of those people. Let's hope I never do. Fingers crossed.

I don't listen to Owen much but yea, I heard his new album was very well received. Good for him.

 

If you're even remotely a fan of American Football you should probably fix that, his Owen project is incredible

 

It's not that I haven't gotten around to it. It's just I don't really listen to those albums much.

 

I'm confused, but alright. You're missing out enormously.

 

Owen is boring. It's not confusing. Some people don't like Owen, and that's ok!

 

While I agree that a lot of Owen stuff has a sound that he sticks to, I wouldn't use the word boring. And some of it definitely is better than others. The album New Leaves is still just about the best he's ever done.

 

For those listening to LP1 for the first time the past couple days - im curious to hear your reactions. so exciting seeing people discover bands like this. There was seriously a period of a few months when i was younger where this LP1 was almost all i listened to.

 

I listen to Bad News and Pietro Crespi every night before bed. Two amazing songs, idk much of their other work though

 

I'm not gonna lie I just started listening to it a year ago. My thoughts were immediately oh shit so this is where 90 percent of the bands I listened to in high school got their inspiration. I love it a ton

 

Owen is great before bed music

 

It's definitely interesting. I dig the production mostly and I love being able to pick out where some of my favorite bands became inspired. Gonna have to give it a few more spins, see how it fits with me.

 

Those two are great but I can't believe you'd stop before Bags of Bones.

 

Owen isn't boring

 

Owen is pretty meh but there are some great songs - Places to Go, Top Shelf, and the ep are all soo excellent. Good Friends With Bad Habits from the split with The City on Film rules too. I just don't think Kinsella's acoustic stuff makes for good full album listening in anything but the most specific circumstances.
