Jon still hasn’t agreed to financial terms with the UFC on a heavyweight move, so we don’t know anything as things stand.

Jones 109% comes back to fight the winner of Stipe and Ngannou.

Lewis even said that was the only punch he was even looking for the whole fight. Hahaha. Gotta love it.

One thing I think people didn’t give him credit for though is that he didn’t really bite on those feints from Blaydes at all. Curtis is usually able to close the distance by keeping people guessing, but Lewis just sat there, no reaction, with that uppercut ready to go. Haha. It made Blaydes have to just shoot a takedown with hardly any setup.

After Lewis caught him with it in the first round, you could tell it kind of threw him off and he was trying to use stand up a little to get Lewis swinging. But he remained really patient, ate a few from Blaydes (his stand up didn’t seem strong at all) and then perfectly timed it a second time for lights out. Really smart fighting.

Lewis tries to play it off like he is just some dumb oaf who goes out there and spams one punch, but there was a lot more to it than he gives himself credit for. haha. Even reacting to the leg kicks that he was getting hit with, for example. I noticed those were working pretty well for Blaydes, but then Lewis started catching on and countered two in a row with really good right hands. Blaydes basically stopped throwing them after that.

I just think Lewis did a really good job of shutting down everything that Blaydes was doing and eventually forced him to go for a takedown with no setup which led to the uppercut. I know it's fun to talk about how bad he looks until he lands his one power shot, but he's really a lot better than that lol. Compare that to when JDS fought Blaydes.... He knew the uppercut was the ticket, but decided to just spam 30 of them in a row instead of being patient and smart about it.

    Lewis is great.

Maybe it was my mood, but this card really reinforced how much I want these old guys to be done. They brought up Eddie Wineland being a WEC Champ, but that was 15 years ago at this point. Arlovski and Oleinik getting washed was tough to see as well. Reading about Mac Danzig and Spencer Fisher really makes me want to see these dudes get out.

I can’t even count how many times I’ve watched Arlovski’s nose break during fights.

I love Arlovski, but I've wanted him to be done several times now. I'm glad he had one last good run in the UFC with a four-fight win streak at one time and proved that he didn't have a glass jaw like everyone thought, but I honestly thought he was on the brink of retirement back in Strikeforce. He had a four-fight losing streak and got KOed in three of those.

That’s the same card as Zhang/Rose is rumored for. What a great night for women’s MMA.

  15. If you can stand Joe Rogan - he has Travis Lutter and Kevin Holland on his MMA show today.

Might be worth it just to hear Lutter talk jits.

  16. yesterday’s episode with Freddie Gibbs was the first I’ve watched since he moved to Spotify. (good) but bad move to switch over lol

I constantly wonder how Schaub was able to go from a pretty meh MMA fighter to personality interviewer/whatever he is now.

  20. Being friends with Rogan helped him a lot. Not saying that’s why he was able to do comedy but...yeah that’s why

not to mention, maybe the worst stand-up comedian in years... possibly ever

    quite impressive, really

Yeah it’s absolutely dreadful. I truly don’t know how he has fans either for his MMA career or commentary on anything.

That said tho I do love Max and will watch later.

I check out The Fighter and The Kid reddit every couple of weeks when I need a good laugh. I don't even have a reddit account lol.

Listening to Dustin on JRE right now. He said there were times that he cut from 190-ish to get down to 145!

He was 187 when they called him to take the Cub Swanson fight on short notice. He "dieted" and trained off what he could but was still over 30 lbs too heavy during fight week. That sounds absolutely insane to me. Apparently he would typically cut 16-18 lbs of water weight each time even on a normal fight camp for 145. Compare that to right now, he said he's walking around at 175 lbs (with no fight scheduled) for 155.
