Hiss Golden Messenger - Heart Like A Levee (October 7, 2016) Album

Thought I made a thread a while back but guess not. Anyways new album Oct 7. Probably my most anticipated for the rest of the year. Their last album was my AOTY in 2014

On October 7, Hiss Golden Messenger will release a new album called Heart Like a Levee, a follow-up to 2014’s Lateness of Dancers. On the record, frontman M.C. Taylor is joined by Bradley and Phil Cook (of Megafaun), Matt McCaughan (of Bon Iver), Tift Merritt and Alexandra Sauser-Monnig (of Mountain Man), Matt Douglas, and Michael Lewis.

 

Very excited for this.

I really wish this song would've made the cut for the album. Thankfully, this live version almost sounds like it was recorded in a studio.

 

I got my pre-order in yesterday! Can't wait to finally listen!

 

Here's the full stream. This is so good and perfect for this time of year. I especially love the back half of this album. Also love that Tift Merritt is featured on a couple of tunes.

Just listened to Vestapol for the first time and it's honestly just as solid as Hear Like A Levee. This guy has put out a very impressive streak of albums.

 

Gonna have to listen this weekend, wasn't even aware it was streaming

Yeah I think you might, I haven't listened to this album yet but this guy is good

They put on a spectacular performance last night in Austin. I was really blown away by the musicianship.

Saw them live last week and they were very good. Phil Cook is such an impressive musician, and a real joy to watch.

 

Phil is a great dude. Have you ever listened to Megafaun?

 

I have given them a try a couple times and liked it just fine but nothing I've heard from them has ever stood out too much. I loved his solo album from last year though.

 

Mr. Cook was feeling it on Tuesday. The drummer couldn't help himself from laughing when Phil decided he wanted to jam. Phil closes his eyes, gets lost in the music, and wraps things up when he feels it is necessary. Awesome show!

 

Tell Her I'm Just Dancing is one of my faves of this year, for sure

 

This album is just sooo good. Perfect for the colder weather too.
