gonna keep my opinion to myself, because unlike Shane, I'm not willing to do a deep dive and give the last dozen albums a second chance

  4. I listen to Blue, a couple songs from Pinkerton, and "put me back together" from whatever album that one's on. That's pretty much all I go back to willingly. I say willingly since "Africa" seems to always be on the radio, which drives me crazy.

Appreciate it. This will be a good guide.

It's not gonna happen quickly if 2021 keeps being as good of a year for metal and hardcore as I think it's gonna end of being. Case in point, I'm not gonna be listening to anything other than the new Suffering Hour for the next week because it's that good. I'm hoping I'll get to it by the end of the summer.

  7. I think this is the way bands should be approaching the whole "concerts can come back in the fall" thing. I have enough faith in the vaccine/Fauci that it could happen, but I still wouldn't be buying a ticket. Artists should recognize that instead of pressuring fans to buy tickets in case they sell out.

I mean every venue has fully booked calendars for fall it’s just whether or not fall can happen. Agents and Promoters aren’t just waiting for an ok to book shows but they have had to move them countless times

Slipknot has enough drawing power that they'll probably get large crowds once it is ok to tour again. I hope they know this and get smaller more underground bands that may be struggling on the tour that could really use the exposure after releasing an album and then not being able to tour on it.

Something like Slipknot / Sevendust / The Black Dahlia Murder / The Acacia Strain. But I feel like it'll be other arena type headliner bands.

Edit: Or a small venue tour to help out the venues that have been closed for so long would be amazing.

I mean I'm constituting underground by venues played on a normal headliner/FM radio play. I didn't realize time is what constituted being underground or not. Guess I've got news go break to the local death metal band that's been around since 1989. There's plenty of bands who have been around for decades who have not broken our from the underground.

I always determined it by how many people were coming out to the shows. Sevendust is still a house of blues type band. So that's still a lot of people coming out to their shows. Black dahlia and acacia play smaller venues but they both do extremely well when placed on fest type billings

Those bands haven't just been around for 20 years, they've been headliners for most of that time. They're not huge radio rock bands (though 7D has had plenty of radio exposure), but I wouldn't really call them underground or struggling in comparison to MANY other bands.

I doubt TBDM or Acacia Strain is making much of anything off of album sales alone right now. I'd be willing to bet that most anyone below arena level or maybe House of Blues level is struggling all about the same. When I was putting together a mock bill I was mainly thinking underground but big enough that it still made sense. Sure a band like Ingested, Spite, Brand of Sacrifice, Sanction, Chamber, or Venom Prison are more obscure in the grand scheme of things, but I highly doubt any of them would be pick number one to fill out a hypothetical Slipknot "Sounds of the Underground" type headliner.

Just got an email from Ticketmaster stating the System Of A Down LA shows that were supposed to take place in May are now moving to October

Boston Calling called it today for 2021. The fact that they're not referencing any of the headliners, adapting the line-up, etc. makes me think they've scrapped all of the 2020 line-up and will recalibrate for 2022.

Probably not a bad thing, considering how top-heavy that bill was... Curious to see if they get any of the headliners back, though. Rage was a really strong get, but I feel like they are probably out of the mix now.
