  3. Don’t show me pink vinyl when I’ve had a couple beers. It’s my mf weakness.

I'm not variant collecting because that took me down a dangerous path in a previous life, but man this one looks so good it's tempting.

Save yourself. I'm in a damn blood pact with this 100% variant full collection. Some people invest in gold and silver or Gamestop. My assets are all tied up in Manchester vinyl.

Can’t quit hitting replay on this and I need to sleep. @BoldTitan spent 5000 dollars on everything in the store and now I’m thinking I need to go buy more shit

I did it. To support the indie stores, right? Gotta justify it somehow lol.

My thoughts are this, it may be a frivolous purchase, but at the end of the day these vinyl variants are how these bands stay afloat. The more I purchase, the more they can support their families and the more great albums they can keep making.

4 Days Ago - "I should really start picking up the Manchester Orchestra records on vinyl when they start getting repressed. I can't believe I don't have any."

Today - "Well that was expensive"

You’re talking to a guy who buys $300 action figures, you don’t have to justify your purchases to me. Haha

and if you’re going to spend that kind of money on a band, MO is worth it for sure!

So the hat and coozie that say "MMIV MMXXI aeternam" don't mean anything beyond that being the current year, right?

  13. Snagged MMoG, Brainstorm, and Simple Math. I haven't had anything I was incredibly excited about this year other than Higher Lonely Power, this fixed that.

Originally ordered from Brooklyn vegan then found a record store in Michigan that had the pink smoke. Ordered that and gonna cancel the BV vinyl

After already blowing 150 on the store, and I just got roped into the Barnes & Noble exclusive signed sleeve. God help me.

An inconsequential shift as the continents drift.

    Bed Head :shake: The River

Andy Hull making "oh my gooooooood" sound like the best thing ever said by anyone

  17. Finally became a Patreon supporter, so I copped the exclusive vinyl and the long sleeve. I don’t often pre-order but they’re 100% worth it

Can I just say that I don’t know why other bands don’t endlessly repress their catalogs. It took me four seconds to decide to buy Cope and Virgin on top of Million Masks - I don’t care about variants, but this is one of my favorite bands and those records mean so, SO much to me. And I didn’t have them. Now I do. I guess I just don’t understand why records can go unpressed for years - it’s surely just printing money for a band with any kind of fanbase.

  19. Correct

get out of my brain, I was thinking this

    I’m sure for a lot of bands, it’s a label/rights issue

In regards to the standard black, I’d agree with you for the most part. But pressing limited variants and creating a market and a demand given its limited status, is huge.

Variants mean continued return business. Some folks variant collect (like myself), you can’t keep things in continuous press and keep introducing ~limited~ presses every back to back reorder.

Lessening the ~special~ nature behind it can cause you to not be able to count on these special pressings as a revenue stream.

The way they (MO/Andy) do it, they create a guaranteed revenue stream, every year or every two years.

Every two years, Andy represses the RAGC trilogy. 1000 x 75 = 75k - costs = 50kish. Guaranteed. If it was always available, you may still buy it, but maybe you won’t because it IS always there.

That chance is not worth taking.

This is a lot of words, it’s late. I apologize for the meaningless ramble.

Genuinely curious how big those boxes of stuff are going to be.

    I’ve never ordered a massive non-vinyl preorder.
