am I imagining this or did they confirm that Rian Johnsons trilogy would actually be set in their new High Republic era that sounds like a bad version of the Old Republic from Legends and includes some old legacy characters like Yoda?

if thats really true ill be 0% hyped despite Rian. give me as much new as possible.

  2. I don't know if they confirmed that or not but the two High Republic books that are out are both very good. Yoda is only mentioned by name. Not that they couldn't make him a main character in the movie, but i feel like he's just been used as a reference point thus far.

Yeah the leaked Trevorrow script was shockingly good and would have been a way better movie than the dumpster fire we wound up getting.

The Trevorrow script was still bad, tbh. It just was better than what we got & better than you'd think a Trevorrow Star Wars would be; both very low bars.

And, any time someone sincerely describes following up Last Jedi after losing Carrie as some variation of “an impossible task,” I know that person has no imagination. Who knows what additional corporate hurdles existed within Disney/Lucasfilm to make this process difficult. But, purely as a creative exercise, no professional writer who cares for this genre & franchise should’ve found just coming up with a basic story uniquely hard.

The prequels were always good/decent, they had issues like every single SW movie under the sun but people were just so childishly upset over like Jar Jar Binks, Hayden, Jake Lloyd, green screen sets, etc., that it made people not take them seriously. Rise however is like something an algorithm that was fed bad Star Wars fanfic would spit out, it will not hold up like the prequels imo.

Phantom is better. Rise is the worst for a multitude of reasons

  15. phantom is the only one of these four films being discussed that i think i’d ever watch again on my own volition

they're all bad but the prequels are interested in some political themes that hold more merit than anything "explored" in Rise of Skywalker so on that alone they're more valuable even if it's comparing turds

Ya however flawed the prequels are, they have a substantive core that the sequels don’t

uh The Last Jedi absolutely has a substantive core. The Last Jedi is so far above the prequels they aren't even in the same galaxy.

TLJ is the most substantive sequel, but it’s also pretty garden variety motivational speaker material isnt it? Its’ themes are righteous and important, but there isnt really anything you can’t get off a hallmark card
