Gab Ginsberg, writing at Billboard about the story behind All Time Low’s smash hit “Monsters:”

Next, ATL and FBR intend to continue chipping away at pop radio and Hot AC, where Poleman says “Monsters” will continue to grow (“The more it gets familiar, the more it’s going to continue to go up the charts”). The band recently returned to the studio, too, and Poleman already sounds excited about the early material he’s heard. “I think they’ll be able to follow this up with another hit and then hopefully a longer string,” he hints. “They’re in a good groove right now.”

While the band may be busy plotting their next creative move (“it’s felt good to stay sharp and keep the gears turning since we haven’t had anything else, really, to do,” says Gaskarth of being back in the studio), they’re also taking the time to appreciate the moment for what it is. “It’s wild to us that sixteen years into a career, we’re having a song resonate with people the way it is,” he says. “It’s amazing to still be making music that feels current and relevant and has the place in the world.”

Super proud of these guys. I did not think Monsters would be the song that would do this, but I'm happy it happened for them. I've consistently loved every release they've put out, and Wake Up Sunshine was absolutely fantastic. I've been listening to and seeing ATL live since SWIR, but my love has only grown for them in recent years. Their shows are just so much fun, and I'm so glad I decided to go to LA for the Nothing Personal shows in December 2019. Can't wait to see what they do next, and although I'm excited that they're already working on new material, I really hope Wake Up Sunshine gets setlist love when they play shows again.

Really happy for them. I don’t think they’ve ever really had the mainstream success that they deserve so I’m glad to see it panning out for them and during a creative peak to boot.

Wake Up Sunshine is a huge peak. I think this maybe the 5th (?) best song on there, so if this is what helps them keep the lights on and keep writing awesome songs, all the better.

I think Wake Up Sunshine was the best surprise of 2020. Been quite awhile since I’ve listened to ATL up until that point and they reeled me back in.

This band, along with the whole neon scene in the late 00's, annoyed the fuck out of me but record after record they've eased up on their more obnoxious trends and I thoroughly enjoyed their 2020 album.

These guys have been one of my favorite bands since they released the stellar "Don't panic." I have loved every album since and especially their last one. I was really hoping to read something like this early this year :D. This is easily one of my most anticipated now.

Far and away their best effort, songs are as good as it gets for pop/rock craftsmanship. I have no idea what ends up being popular, so I’m surprised it was this track, but glad that it happened and looking forward to a follow up.

Stoked for the success Monsters is seeing and only hope they are able to keep it going. They deserve it all:rock:

Safe, Clumsy, and Glitter & Crimson are some of my favorite songs they’ve ever made.

I feel the same way. Monsters isn't a bad track, but I definitely didn't see it being the track on this album that would blow up. But whatever work, I'm very glad to see them getting some mainstream success.
Same here. Was my favorite ATL album when it came out (Wake Up Sunshine is better though IMO).
