Rewatching Saw (don't ask me why) and the acting is so much worse than I remember lol

edit: some of the editing too, yeesh. I like Whannel and Wan but you can definitely tell this was their first.

 

Lol I just started the series again too, it is some S tier trash. The way they flash back to things that happened literal seconds before cracks me up every time

 

The first one blew my mind when I was 13 but rewatching them tell a story through flashbacks within flashbacks is actually insane lol

 

I’ll always be a sucker for the twist and when the music kicks in

 

Saw has 3 or 4 more installments in series that I even knew existed, just under my radar lol I was 14 when saw 2 released I was all about it at the time. Havent rewatched any of them at all in atleast a decade tho

If the chris rock Saw movie coming out is good I'll give it a go again

 

Watched Await Further Instructions on Netflix and really liked it. Looked like they used a lot of practical effects at the end that looked pretty awesome.

 

It was years later thanks to the Saw honest trailer I discovered that one of the two guys in the room was Leigh Whannel, Wan’s close friend and screenplay writer for most of his films. A terrible actor but apparently it was because of budget restraints.

 

leigh was not the worst actor in the first saw at the very least

 

Idk, him and Cary Elwes were competing pretty hard lol

 

I kinda want to try Saw 2 because I remember it doing more with the concept before the series went completely off the deep-end but I'm pretty sure the nostalgia stops there. I'd be surprised if I make it to 4.

I remember The Final Chapter (Saw 3D) being one of the worst movies I've ever seen, although I never saw Jigsaw.

 

2 is a little better than 1, I also really like 6 for it trying to hilariously tackle the insurance industry, and 5 also has a pretty good premise. 7 is complete and utter garbage.

 

Late 2019/early 2020 is when I watched the series for the first time. The idea of the series and the sub genre that spawned after wasn’t my type of horror. I was actually surprised how much I loved the first three movies esp the second one.

 

Saw 2: still written pretty poorly, but honestly a pretty impressive step up from the first. Can't help but think how well it could have worked as a one-off.

 

Any solid youtube analysis pages/vids for horror? I'm starting my Horror unit tomorrow and already have a bunch, but I'll take any suggestions!

Got the Friday the 13th box set for my birthday!! Can't wait to dive in. I was in the middle of the rewatch, so I'm starting tonight with Jason Lives

 

Did the Shudder La Llorona this weekend after seeing the Golden Globes nom and it was not what I expected at all. Pretty slow but great performances all around. Some really effective long shots too. Would be really cool to see a Shudder original win an award too.

 

Had a really crazy dream about a Saw / Escape Room type scenario. Maybe I should cut back on the horror. lol

 

In Video Games S tier is good.

 

s tier trash = the best, greatest of all trashes

 

Really good intense moments in that second film. At least in the early films, what Saw lacks in writing is made up for by the atmosphere and tension.

 

Yes I am saying it is the best trash lol

 

So much talk of trash makes me want to listen to the Blood Brothers.

 

Saw 3 I also found to be the same quality as the first two and the 10 minutes of plot twists at the end is straight up unethical
