It’s a bad song that ruins the flow of a decent album. I deleted it after 2 listens

 

Outside of singles, I haven’t listened to any Weezer album after Hurley. I may need to change that.

I sort of like "thank god for girls" but it does definitely stick out in an unpleasant way

 

I feel like I want Rivers to stick with a solid theme or concept for every album from now on. Even if that risks there being a whole album I'm not into (not sure what to make of a dance rock Fall album in that Seasons concept but fuck it, go for it)

This band is gonna end up with like a 25 album discography haha

 

I’d be really curious to know how Rivers would rank all the albums

 

The best song on Hurley is easily Ruling Me, and Get Right is awesome.

 

Thank God For Girls makes no sense on White. Only song I truly do not like. King of the World is meh too, inoffensive but meh.

I love King of the World

 

Gonna do a discog listen through everything and then make an arbitrary ranking in my head that I will probably change by tomorrow.

 

When I saw them in 2016 they played King of the World with the last half of Only In Dreams and it ruled

 

sounds epic

 

TGFG doesn’t make sense on white but it’s a great song in a vacuum. nowhere near the worst on the album, even if it fits the worst.

 

White Album is 5 years old on April 1st but it feels like the most recent release to me still. It’s been good all five years

 

So a month after White turns 5, they'll be putting out their 5th release since that album. Lol that's crazy.

King of the World is such a great song.

Also Crab is not a bad song, it’s just my least favorite song on Green. I still like it and think it’s a good song.

Actually today I did a Green re-listen and realized I love that album way more than I thought I did.

 

the melody of the chorus is chefs kiss

 

Green is full of chef’s kiss chorus melodies. It’s a catchy as hell record.

 

i pulled up five “rank every song” lists and, while it’s hardly a definitive metric, the lowest placement of crab in the rankings was low 30s. worst on the album seems crazy to me!

 

Getchoo, Crab, and Love Explosion are all good but I like them just a liittle bit less than the rest of those records. Like, the most negative thing I can say about Getchoo is that it's less good than any of the Pinkerton bsides, which are in their own right all at the very very top of the Weezer song list.

I see a lot of people picked Falling For You, which I get to a degree with it having one of the less memorable choruses on the album but the way the main riff builds each time it comes back until it leads into the solo and bridge is one of the more impressive things Rivers has written imo.

 

getchoo, imo, is closer to the band’s best song than it is worst on the album
