A legit title fight won’t pay as much as fighting Conor though. If he wants to fight Conor that bad make Olivera/Chandler for the title and have Poirer fight Connor. Sounds like he’s more interested in money than a title and you can’t blame him given that title fights will come and go and Conor PPV money is more valuable than a title at this point.

  8. Absolutely not. But Conor shouldn’t be sniffing a title fight right now regardless of who it’s against.

I don’t blame Dustin for wanting Conor or Nate or whoever. But let’s move along here

Yeah Conor is nowhere near a title. Personally I’d like to see McGregor/Diaz 3 and Dustin go for the title against Olivera but I don’t blame Dustin for chasing the cash cow over a title that’s been somewhat diluted by Khabib retiring. Especially since I think Dustin destroys Connor or Diaz pretty easily. That’s easy money compared to fighting Chandler/Olivera.

Conor would have to win at least two big fights for me to think he halfway deserves the shot

I don’t hate the idea of Poirier vs McGregor 3 being for the title. They’re 1 and 1 with a winner takes all situation. I have spent enough time in life speculating on whether or not the Diaz brothers fight or don’t fight. And if Khabib is retired we’re wasting time fitting him in the mix too. Oliveira vs Gaethje for a no. 1 contender spot works imo.

Oliveira should absolutely be fighting for the title

I do like Oliveira and I wouldn’t be mad to see him in a title fight, it’s just not lost on me that he’s only beaten one guy in the current top 5. I remember not long ago he was plagued with weight making issues and getting finished often.

I mean, Conor has won one fight in the last 4 years and has been finished in 2 of his last 3 so.. I can’t really get on board with him getting a title shot over someone like Oliveira. It just doesn’t make any sense to me aside from a $ perspective, something fans shouldn’t ever worry about.

From a competitive standpoint, I haven't counted Cowboy out. He seems to always blast through mid- and lower-tier guys, but he gets held up by the top contenders. We go from "Cowboy's done" to "Cowboy's back!" every other year haha.

As far as damage goes, he's been stopped a lot, but he seems to always fold as soon as he faces adversity. He's never really been knocked out cold because he chooses to turtle up and quit before he takes a serious beating. Maybe that's helped him with his longevity.

Thinking about getting the BKFC event tonight. I want to see how Paige does and kind of crazy that Chris Leben is still fighting. I have low expectations, but it’s only 40 bucks for a year subscription, which isn’t bad.

I refuse to believe those fighters receive “less head trauma” than MMA fighters or boxers and the damage they’re left with backs that up. I genuinely do not like watching those.

I've wondered about all of that too, and I can see it a few different ways. You aren't hitting quite as hard as you'll break your knuckles more easily, but also, the fights can get stopped due to cuts more easily. But on the other hand, it's still boxing so you're taking shots to the head over and over with no grappling to break it up.

It will take one seriously badly injured orbital bone or somebody going blind for them to care. I know full well that’s completely possible in MMA, but not nearly as many opponents leave looking as badly as bare knuckle boxers do.
