New Cannibal Corpse is pretty good, Erik Rutan brought the riffs.

 

Oh this is going to be good. Comes out in April. Reminds me of Converge, Botch, Harvest and Nora. Good stuff! (Also got the promo)

The new Cannibal Corpse song sounds good. The bridge breakdown is gnarly.

So Erik Rutan actually wrote and played on this album? If that's the case, explains why it feels like they're a bit reinvigorated.

edit: Rutan produced it, but contributions beyond that are unconfirmed. My comments stand.

 

Yeah, even if he doesn’t play on it, Rutan and CC has this bond that shines through in the recording. Also, Rutan is a truly great DM producer and he has this inhuman ability to get these great tones and true balance.

 

I totally forgot that it's been nearly 4 years since Red Before Black came out. Damn.

 

I feel like they’d tell us though if Pat is playing on it. Guess he’s still in the legal weeds of being an all timer Florida Man.

 

If the members of Gojira formed a metallic hardcore band I imagine it would sound something like this. A good mix of Sanction, END, etc. There is even an “arf, arf” thrown in for good measure.

 

New Tribulation is good. Continuation of that black n' roll sound they've had on their last few releases. It's nothing special, but it always hits the spot with me so I'm not gonna complain.

Listening to the new Portrayal of Guilt now, and I'm digging it a lot. There's a lot of layers to it so I'm definitely gonna need to take some time to unpack it, but it's the perfect length for a release like this so I'll definitely be revisiting it.
