Being 19 it's really annoying hanging out with people cause all they fucking can talk about is college. Literally nothing else

So tired I want to die. I made it to 1pm today until I crashed instead of feeling horrible all day like yesterday tho. I was so tired yesterday I fell asleep at like 730. Bleghhhhh

 

like their classes and whatnot? I talk about a lot of stuff with my friends from school but college shit does come up a lot since it occupies so much of our time.

 

As a communications major i kinda hate talking to people about school because people are usually condescending about the degree and how little it actually qualifies you for

 

Kinda but not really. I'm in community college (well, was) so it's more like "what university are you planning on transferring to?" and idk I feel like a failure so it gets to me when that's the only thing anyone can talk about

 

No one knows what a med tech does so I normally don't talk about it.

 

despite what Reddit seems to think every single person in the world can't do STEM,do what makes you happy

 

every conversation is basically the exact same after someone asks me my major so I learned early freshman year to not ask so the question isn't reciprocated.

 

I used to like Math a lot actually until I took pre-calc and it wasn't so easy anymore. Then it was like "oh so this is why people hate this" lol

but yeah I was an extremely poor communicator before school and even if it doesn't really qualify me for a particular job i've still learned a lot.

 

I hated pre calc too haha

 

People always said my sociology degree was useless to the point where I dreaded the looks and "what are you going to do with that?" judgmental question, but I found a job a few months after graduation that is related to what I want to do and I make enough to not live with my parents, pay down my student loans, and occasionally do fun things so

 

I feel like people ask that question for any degree that isn't engineering. it's kind of annoying. lots of people don't necessarily get jobs that pertain to their undergrad degree.

 

My friend has a philosophy degree and gets asked that all the time.

 

I have an English degree and I've begun saying, "I've got a degree in English and I don't want to teach" because that's always the assumption.

 

People have the "$ = success" notion too which is annoying. I've never had a desire to make 6 figures or anything, and I didn't expect to with my field. After trying to think about what my passion is, I don't think I really have one that I'd do for a job, so I'm totally content with having a job that enables me to do things I am passionate about, like go to shows or buy books or decorate my house for Halloween. Being rich would be nice but I don't need that.

To some people it's a crazy notion that others would rather do a job they love that pays less

 

The only thing I can really see myself enjoying is working for myself creating some kind of product/art. I might have to wait a while and get a "real" job before that obviously, but that's a stepping stone.
