Huh? Hamm didn’t get big awards but it’s widely considered one of the best dramatic television roles/performances ever.

 

Jon Hamm did what he needed to do with that part but it never really required amazing acting. Which is fine, that's what the character is. Other than being the token "surprise guest" on tv shows after Mad Men, what else has he proven himself in? His episode of Black Mirror is good, but am I missing any amazing roles from him?

 

um hello, Bridesmaids.

 

Not much else but I’d completely disagree with that role not requiring amazing acting.

 

The range of something like, Baby Driver or Bridesmaids, to Marjorie Prime, is peak "Hamm is a good actor."

 

The premise wasn’t on whether or not Hamm is a good actor over the whole course of his career. It’s if his performance as Don Draper is credited to him doing a great job, which he did.

 

Hamm is a great actor who was incredible as Don Draper. I think a lot of his choices outside of Mad Men, the generally lighter roles, stem from the dark headspace playing Don Draper put him in, and the factor it played in his alcoholism. He also seems to like comedy and being a part of that community.

 

Hamm being funny makes me mad you're already handsome what more can you want , kidding mostly

 

I’m not even a fan of his comedy really. They’re usually okay at best.

Jon Hamm on Bridesmaids, 30 Rock, SNL and Kimmy Schmidt are all fantastic comedic performances.

 

Jon Hamm is a great actor who is frequently miscast, and he's been known to refuse roles similar to Don Draper after Mad Men. I think because of that he's not getting lead roles like he should. I think he'd kill it in a David Lynch film.

 

Speaking of David Lynch/interesting actors I’ve always really liked Justin Theroux and find his filmography to be one of the more unique I’ve seen

 

I don’t know if he’s miscast so much as he’s just in a bunch of shitty movies lol

 

I think Lynch is done with film but would love to see him work with Jon Hamm

Hamm is great nowadays in weirdly funny roles. Justin Theroux is similar! Thinking of his role in Maniac (and, of course, The Leftovers)

Hamm in the recent season of Curb is perfect.

 

Maniac is so amazing. Easily one of the best things Netflix has produced.

 

It’s been said before but the cops in night stalker are beyond incompetent. Everyone involved in the dentist office fiasco needed to be fired and the families of victims post dentist office fiasco should have had free reign to sue the shit out of every police department involved.

 

If you’d like to see Hamm in a dramatic role you wouldn’t expect check out Marjorie Prime. Great film and he’s great in it. It’s also a great live play if we can ever feel comfortable going back to those someday.
