AFI has and will always be my favorite band ever. I'll go to every concert and buy every album and get excited for everything.

With that said, the past ~5 years have been rough. Burials had some huge hits, but some huge misses, and TBA/Missing Man were so incredibly forgetful for me. I just can't believe this is the same band that did stuff like STS/DU... I get that the production (i.e. $$) for those albums was massive compared to what they probably have now, but I'm not sure what it'd change.

Which is weird, because Blaqk Audio has been SO good lately (Only Things We Love was amazing, front to back). I love Davey on that stuff, but feel like he's on a steep decline with anything related to AFI. Perhaps over the years his voice just can't fit this style of music anymore?

    Oh well.

I really like these two new songs, especially Escape From LA. Really into New Wave/Post-Punk AFI.

I feel the same way, AFI is my favorite band of all time, been a fan since All Hollow's EP and to see them releasing music that is getting not worse but less in quality kinda hurts, I was really loving The Missing Man EP, it was a huge step up from the ST album which I though only had like 3 really good songs, a lot of forgettable song and probably the worse AFI song to date "The Wind That Carries Me Away".

I liked the 2 new songs but they are not "hit singles" they feel like some of the middle songs from Burials, I really hope that we get a proper single when the album comes out or maybe these 2 songs were B-Sides and not a part of the album.

Still.. love AFI to death and remain my favorite band of all time.

Agreed for the most part, love AFI but haven't enjoyed much from them since Burials

Twisted Tongues felt so long/repetitive that I had to open iTunes to make sure it wasn't on repeat.

EFLA just seems like a b-side demo.

Really digging both of these, especially Escape from Los Angeles. I love that they are constantly changing up their sound, what a great band

I feel like hearing these songs made me realize I liked an era of this band (Sorrow and Decemberunderground). Which is totally fine.

That said, I’m always glad to see bands stick around and have some longevity for their fans and I hope they love the new album. I’m probably still stream it or something once the full thing is out just to see.

100% with you here - it really doesn't matter what they put out, I'll always give it a listen, but it somehow never diminishes my excitement to see them live and freak the fuck out

Both of these are pretty bland and neither really have that “big” moment. Don’t see myself coming back to either of them a whole lot.

    They desperately need a producer.

Boring, no other way to really put it. Been a fan for a long time, but the last few releases are just kinda there.
