My mom got COVID from a redneck at her work who doesn't wear a mask and brought it back to my family of five that all live together, and I'm somehow the only one that has tested negative and still have for like five days now. Literally been living in my room for this whole week and will be for at least another week I guess. It really sucks and I'm going crazy lol (they're fine, only real symptoms are the loss of taste and smell)

So does this mean for the time being I’m getting the UI extension plus supplement for the first 24 weeks of 2021? I got health insurance through my state marketplace and my tax credits towards premiums is based on income, including UI, so I have to call at some point to report how much I’m getting but these extensions keep changing how much income I’m getting this year.

Has it been discussed/revealed yet what the $15/hr rollout would look like, if passed? I believe the one Florida voted on was an initial increase to $10, then another dollar a year over the following 5 yrs.

I make $12 at my one job & $11 at the other. So, while I’ll be happy to get the $1400 (& annoyed it’s only technically $2000, from a certain point of view), that $15/hr is the real sexy part for me (selfishly).

Gimme that raise, the silly $1400 stimulus, & that sad $10,000 student debt forgiveness (when was the last that came up officially?), & I’ll feel rich, lol.

My guess is it would be phased in over a few years time. It's more than doubling the current federal minimum wage so doing that instantly would almost definitely spike some small businesses into the ground.

 

Should be $15 scaling to $20. we needed a $15 min wage about 10 years ago.

 

Thanks, but like, I’m not at risk of starving or being evicted at the moment, & I can even spend some of my income on comics, lol. I’m perfectly fine saying there’s a selfish side to me being happy about a bill that’d put me in a better place when it wouldn’t do enough for people who are much more vulnerable than I am.

I for one support Biden’s program to give Death Grips records to kids.

 

My job is helping people reorder diabetic supplies including the monitoring systems and those things are expensive as hell. I'm type 1 as well and I definitely can't afford them, so I just use the simple finger pricking monitor, but a lot of the patients are older and have brittle fingers and aren't able to do that anymore.

The amount of times I've had to tell people their insurance won't cover those things is too damn high. One lady even said she would straight up have to go to the ER since she had no way to monitor her levels.

I've definitely bent the rules a few times and sent stuff early. The system is fucked and it's a huge population of seniors that are suffering because of it.
