Can someone summarize what happened today for me? House voted basically on party lines and that's it?

So bearing this to be true, what would be the point in moving the impeachment hearings to the senate if it won't hold up? Especially considering it seems they won't start until after he is out of office

Quick q: in the very very unlikely scenario that Trump is removed and Pence gets to be president for a day, does that count as a term for Pence? As in, should he run and win in 2024 will it be as though he has served 4 years and will only be allowed to serve a further 4, or would his day long term not really count?

 

It wouldn't count towards the 2 term rule. Basically the longest a president could be president in theory is 10 years, so if Pence took over in like early 2019, he could still run for two more full terms, but not if he took over in 2018.
